Cristian Javier allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over four innings in Sunday's loss to the Athletics.

Javier has struggled to miss opposing bats of late, allowing three earned runs or more in three of his last four trips to the mound. The right-hander remains one of many underwhelming options in the Astros rotation for manager Joe Espada, posting a 6.47 ERA and 1.66 WHIP with a 1-4 record and .864 OPS allowed through 12 appearances.
