Glen Perkins has unclear timeline

by Chris Zolli | Tue, May 10th 7:51pm EDT

According to Twins' beat writer Phil Miller, Glen Miller is feeling better, but still has an unclear timeline, even though there are reports that he has started throwing from 60 feet. Perkins is on the DL with a shoulder injury and the Twins have used Kevin Jepsen at closer since Perkins has been on the disabled list. He has pitched only two innings this season. Fantasy Impact:

Perkins was a solid mid-tier option at closer coming into 2016, posting 30 or more saves for three straight seasons, but now there is uncertainty on his value. Not only are the Twins struggling with a 8-23 record, but Kevin Jepsen has looked better over the last three seasons than Perkins has. There is nothing that says that Perkins will lose his closer's role when he returns, but he should only be valued as a low-tier RP2 in deep leagues.
