by Jamie Mellor | Tue, Aug 2nd 4:48am EDT
In anticipation of picking up a player before the trade deadline Monday, the Cubs DFA'd (Designated For Assignment) Brian Matusz. Basically, Matusz will not be with the Cubs major league team. There are multiple scenarios of what could happen to Matusz that range from being in the minor leagues for the Cubs, becoming a part of another franchise's organization, or even being unemployed as a baseball player. (Chicago Tribune)
Fantasy Impact:
He was driven out of his Sunday start by Seattle hitting three two-run HR in the first three innings. So far, he has not lived up to his potential that led to him being a highly touted prospect. The odds are that he will find employment as a baseball player somewhere, just not as part of the Cubs major league team right now.
