Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (8/10)

Tarik Skubal (SP – LAD) vs. Kansas City Royals

Tarik Skubal is having another sensational season. According to FanGraphs, in 17 starts spanning 102.2 innings this season, Skubal has amassed the following numbers:

    • 7 wins
    • 10 quality starts
    • 2.81 ERA
    • 2.99 xERA
    • 2.63 xFIP
    • 2.74 SIERA
    • 0.92 WHIP
    • 4% walk rate
    • 30.7% strikeout rate
    • 16.2% SwStr%
    • 30.9% CSW%
    • 117 stuff+
    • 106 location+
    • 121 pitching+

Skubal has a tasty matchup tonight. The Royals are tied for 16th in wRC+(95) with a 21.1% strikeout rate versus lefties and 25th in wRC+ (88) with a 22.2% strikeout rate on the road in 2026.

Kansas City is also tied for 22nd in wRC+ (87) with a 19.7% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and 20th in wRC+ (90) with a 17.2% strikeout rate in the previous 14 days. The Dodgers are commanding -300 favorites, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.

Trevor Rogers (SP – BAL) at Minnesota Twins

Trevor Rogers is on fire. In his previous four starts, totaling 25.1 innings, the lefty has recorded the following stats:

    • 1 win
    • 3 quality starts
    • 3.2 ERA
    • 2.15 xERA
    • 2.48 xFIP
    • 2.66 SIERA
    • 0.99 WHIP
    • 1% walk rate
    • 28.4% strikeout rate
    • 14.2% SwStr%
    • 32.6% CSW%
    • 104 stuff+
    • 113 location+
    • 113 pitching+

Rogers can stay hot in a favorable matchup. The Twins are tied for 18th in wRC+ (94) with a 21.9% strikeout rate versus lefties and tied for 19th in wRC+ (101) with a 19.5% strikeout rate at home this year.

Minnesota is 21st in wRC+ (88) with an 18.9% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and tied for 14th in wRC+ (97) with a 17.2% strikeout rate in the previous 14 days. The Orioles are listed at -110 on the Moneyline, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.

Jacob Lopez (SP – ATH) vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Jacob Lopez is risky because of his hitter-friendly home ballpark and wretched full-season numbers. That said, the lefty is in a groove. In Lopez’s last five starts spanning 21.1 innings, he’s spun the following numbers:

      • 1 win
      • 0 quality starts
      • 2.11 ERA
      • 2.20 xERA
      • 4.22 xFIP
      • 3.51 SIERA
      • 1.08 WHIP
      • 10.2% walk rate
      • 31.8% strikeout rate
      • 15.1% SwStr%
      • 30.5% CSW%
      • 101 stuff+
      • 104 location+
      • 100 pitching+

Lopez has an OK matchup and somewhat alarming betting info. The Rays are tied for 22nd in wRC+ (91) with an 18.3% strikeout rate versus lefties and tied for 11th in wRC+ (99) with a 19.4% strikeout rate on the road this season.

Tampa Bay is also 11th in wRC+ (102) with a 19.7% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days but tied for 25th in wRC+ (82) with a 19.8% strikeout rate in the previous 14 days.

The Athletics are underdogs (+130) at home, and the game’s total is a hitter-friendly 10 runs. Regardless, Lopez’s recent performance warrants rolling the dice on him at his bargain salary in GPPs as an SP2 on DraftKings.

      Suggested Lineup Stacks

Blade Tidwell has much to prove, with a 5.91 ERA, 4.41 xERA, 5.37 xFIP and 4.98 SIERA in 13 career appearances (10 in relief and three starts) since debuting in the Majors last season.

Tidwell also had an unimpressive 4.38 ERA, 4.46 xERA and 5.12 xFIP in 16 appearances (15 starts) in Triple-A this year. The righty has also allowed a .396 wOBA to 68 left-handed batters and .329 wOBA to 79 right-handed batters in his young career.

Houston’s offense will also get a lift from facing San Francisco’s bullpen, which ranks tied for 21st in ERA (4.33).

Jameson Taillon has pitched dreadfully this season, as evidenced by his 5.96 ERA, 6.05 xERA, 4.75 xFIP and 4.50 SIERA in 16 starts. The 34-year-old righty has ceded a .350 wOBA to 167 right-handed batters and a .391 wOBA to 179 left-handed batters in 2026.
