Austin Slater went 2-for-3 with a run scored and one stolen base in Sunday’s 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Impact
Slater recorded his first hit of the season on Sunday, adding his first stolen base and run scored in the process. While he’s hitting at the top of the order against left-handed pitchers, he hasn’t produced consistently with the opportunity. The contract is still pending a physical, but Slater, after being released by the Tigers a couple of days ago, will head to Miami. With Kyle Stowers (hamstring) beginning the season on the IL, it makes perfect sense for the Marlins to add depth in the outfield. Slater is a career .267 hitter against left-handed pitching, and that's likely where he will see most of his at-bats.
Slater came to Detroit as a non-roster invitee with the contractual right to request his release if not added to the roster by Saturday. He posted an .856 OPS across 36 Grapefruit League plate appearances this spring.
Fantasy Impact
The Tigers granted Slater his release Saturday and he will now look for opportunities elsewhere.

Fantasy Impact
Slater, 33, appeared in 65 games between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, posting a .216/.270/.372 slash line. He will provide the Tigers with additional outfield depth.
Austin Slater was reinstated from the IL on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
