Spurs 2019 first-round pick Luka Samanic scored his first NBA points in his first ever NBA start Thursday, going for 16 on 5-of-10 shooting with three triples, six rebounds, three assists, one block, and one turnover.
Samanic had only played two games in his NBA career prior to seeing 31 minutes in a start Thursday night against the Jazz. The minutes came out of nowhere, but Gregg Popovich decided to get a look at one of his two first-rounds pick this season. The other was Keldon Johnson, who impressed in his own right throughout the re-start. This was a good test for Samanic, who seemed to pass with flying colors based on his performance.
