After news broke that Kevin Durant has requested a trade out of Brooklyn, Irving and his camp have shifted their focuses elsewhere. Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that Irving is "focusing on forcing his way to the Lakers." With minimal assets outside of picks in 2027 and 2029, the Lakers due have the salary with Russell Westbrook, who is on a one-year expiring contract that would likely entice the Nets. It remains unclear when or if the Nets are willing to trade Kyrie, but the situation will continue to unfold as LeGM looks to add Kyrie to a team that missed the playoffs last season.
