Walter Clayton Jr. has been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies along with Kyle Anderson, Georges Niang, Taylor Hendricks, and three future first round picks for Jaren Jackson Jr., Vince Williams, and John Konchar.
Fantasy Impact
Clayton has flashed some decent depth potential at times for the Jazz this season, and will now get to show his stuff after a change in scenery in Memphis. The main bits of this deal of course are the picks for Jackson, the rest is really filler, but hopefully some of these lesser Jazz players can find some fantasy relevance in their new homes.
Walter Clayton Jr. scored 15 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3PT, 4-4 FT) with two rebounds, seven assists and one steal in Thursday's 144-122 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Fantasy Impact
Clayton has scored in double figures in four of his last five games, averaging 11.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 25.7 minutes. He is seeing increased opportunities off the bench, but remains a fantasy option primarily in dynasty formats or deeper leagues.
Walter Clayton Jr. scored 15 points (5-11 FG, 4-7 3PT, 1-1 FT) to go with six rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's 129-125 OT loss the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Fantasy Impact
Clayton looked great on Wednesday night. He scored 15 points off of the bench and was also an active contributor in several other areas of the game. He won't be a consistent fantasy option for the foreseeable future but could continue to earn more opportunities for himself if he continues to play well.
Walter Clayton Jr. was flawless shooting the ball in Saturday’s victory against San Antonio, compiling 17 points (6-of-6 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), one rebound, five assists, two steals, and two three-pointers.
Fantasy Impact
The rookie seized his opportunity with a highly efficient performance, finishing just three points shy of his season-best scoring output without missing a single shot. While his role remains too inconsistent to trust in standard redraft leagues right now, he has demonstrated enough upside to suggest he could become a factor later in the season if his playing time stabilizes.
Walter Clayton exited Friday's Summer League game against the Charlotte Hornets after suffering a hamstring injury.
Fantasy Impact
Clayton came up limping late in the fourth quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. He said afterward that his hamstring was "just a little tight" and that he plans to play in the Jazz's upcoming Summer League games. He finished with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists. His next opportunity to return will be Sunday against the Golden State Warriors.
