Jason Verrett
CB - San Francisco 49ers
2024 Outlook
San Francisco cornerback Jason Verrett tore his Achilles tendon at practice on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the season.
Fantasy Impact
Verrett looked close to returning to action after starting the season on the PUP list. Verrett tore his ACL in September 2021, so this is devastating news for the veteran DB, who has worked hard to return to the field. Though they surely were looking forward to his return, this shouldn't affect the Niners D/ST, as they haven't had him in the fold for over a year.
49ers defensive back Jason Verrett got an MRI on Monday, which confirmed the speculation of his torn ACL. He now will now undergo season-ending surgery.
Fantasy Impact
It's a huge blow for the 49ers secondary that really struggled upon Verrett's absence from Sunday's game. San Francisco loves to rely on their corners to play elite man coverage so that their front seven can roam and be more aggressive in the run game, but losing Verrett hinders the teams ability to do so. It'll be interesting to see how the Niners adjust their defense following the injury.
Per Ian Rapoport, head coach Kyle Shanahan believes the CB Jason Verrett tore his ACL on Sunday against the Lions.
Fantasy Impact
Heartbreaking news for the veteran corner as he signed with the 49ers in the offseason. If he did tear his ACL, it will be the second of his career. Josh Norman will likely be inserted in his spot after signing with the team early last week.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the 49ers have re-signed CB Jason Verrett to a one-year, $5.5M deal.
Fantasy Impact
After starting 13 games and totaling 60 tackles and two interceptions for the 49ers in 2020, Verrett will be staying in San Francisco for 2021. The 1-year deal is worth $5.5M and could potentially go up to $6.5M if Verrett makes the Pro Bowl. This is a move that makes a lot of sense for the 49ers especially with the likely departure of Richard Sherman.
CB Jason Verrett is re-signing with the 49ers on a one-year deal.
Fantasy Impact
The former 2014 first-round pick of the Chargers spent five seasons with them before joining the 49ers in 2019. Verrett only played one game for San Francisco prior to being put on the IR with a season-ending injury. He’ll look to regain his health and provide the 49ers with some depth in the secondary in 2020.
