Bryan Little was placed on IR this morning after a scary incident on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. Little took an errant puck to the side of the head which led to him leaving the game and getting 25-30 stitches. Little was also transported to a local hospital for neurological evaluation. It is expected that Little will be released from hospital today and will make a full recovery. At this time there is no timeline for his return to hockey related activities. Fantasy Impact: Bryan Little has had his share of bad luck to open the 2019-20 season. He opened the season on the IR after taking a hit to the head in the final preseason game which saw him miss the opening 9 games. Little has since played 7 games but he will now miss at least a week of action, maybe more.

Coach Maurice has Blake Wheeler skating as the Jets second line center with Nikolaj Ehlers and Jack Roslovic on his wings. The move comes after Bryan Little was placed on IR as a result of a scary incident in Tuesday's game against the Devils. (Source: Ken Wiebe on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: A couple of seasons ago, Wheeler was moved to Center when Mark Scheifele spent an extended period of time on the IR. During that time Wheeler showed quite well in an unfamiliar position. Wheeler has been off to tremendously slow start to this season by his standards, so perhaps this new challenge will spark something for him.

Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves on the 32 shots he faced in 65 minutes played on Tuesday night when the Winnipeg Jets lost to the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in a shootout.

Fantasy Impact: Connor Hellebuyck currently sits with a .930 save percentage and 2.41 goals against average this season through 12 games played. He is playing like the elite goaltender many expected him to be after a Vezina trophy nomination two seasons ago.

Patrik Laine assisted on Josh Morrissey's third period power-play goal that tied the game at 1-1 in the Heritage Classic game on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: Surprisingly, Laine has 10 assists and only 3 goals so far this season. Which is still good for 13 points through 12 games played, but the points are coming via the assist rather than goals this season. I would take it as a positive sign that his game is rounding into that of a more complete player. With the world-class shot he possesses the goals are sure to come.

Mark Scheifele adds an assist

By Tyler Feeleus

Mark Scheifele assisted on Josh Morrissey's third period power-play goal in the Heritage Classic on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: Scheifele is up to 13 points in 12 games played so far this season. Start him in your fantasy lineup as you normally would, he is chugging right along this season.

Josh Morrissey sparked the comeback for the Winnipeg Jets in the Heritage Classic on Saturday when he blasted his first goal of the season on the power-play at 15:49 of the third period which tied the game. The Jets would later go on to win the game 2-1 in overtime.

Fantasy Impact: Josh Morrissey now has 1 goal and 6 assists through 10 games played so far this season. He and Neal Pionk seem to be splitting time as the quarterback atop the Jets #1 power-play unit. Morrissey should be rostered in the majority of formats.

Neal Pionk picks up an assist

Mon, Oct 28th 9:20am EDT
By Tyler Feeleus

Neal Pionk made the breakout pass that sprung Kyle Connor and Bryan Little on a 2-on-1 which led to the overtime winning goal for the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: Neal Pionk is quietly putting together a nice season so far for the Winnipeg Jets. He has 2 goals and 6 assists through 12 games played so far while averaging just under 23 minutes of ice time per game.

Kyle Connor made a beautiful cross crease pass on a 2-on-1 with Bryan Little that led to the game winning goal for the Winnipeg Jets when they defeated the Calgary Flames 2-1 in the Heritage Classic on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Kyle Connor has 6 points through 12 games played so far. After missing training camp without a contract, Connor had a slow start to the season. Momentum appears to be building for Connor now though as he has found points in back to back games. It also looks like he may find himself back up with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler for the Jets next game. A spot that Connor is very familiar with having played the better part of the past two seasons on that line.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored his 4th goal of the season and added an assist in the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 loss to the LA Kings on Tuesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Nikolaj Ehlers is up to 10 points through 11 games played so far this season. He is showing poise with the puck, his usual elite speed, and seems to be shooting more than in past seasons. According to the Jets lines at their most recent practice, Ehlers looks to have earned another look on the top line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler

Ville Heinola converted on a one-timer for his first NHL goal in the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night. Heinola finished the game with 1 goal, a +3 rating, 2 PIMS and 1 SOG in 17:23 of ice time.

Fantasy Impact: Ville Heinola has certainly been a pleasant surprise to open the Winnnipeg Jets 2019-20 season. The eighteen-year old is making the most of his opportunities thus far. He has 3 points in 4 games played. It's a little early to buy into the Heinola hype for fantasy purposes in re-draft leagues as we are not even sure if he will stay with the Jets for the whole season, however if you play in a dynasty or keeper league now would be a good time to grab him and stash him on your bench. If he stays up with the Jets past the 9 game mark of the season and continues to impress, his role will continue to grow as will his production. The Jets are incredibly thin on their blueline, so the path for Heinola to be fantasy relevant is certainly there.

Laurent Brossoit was in goal for the Winnipeg Jets 5-4 comeback win on Friday night against the New Jersey Devils. Jets coach Paul Maurice turned back to Brossoit for a second start in a row when the Jets dropped a 4-1 decision to the New York Islanders on Sunday night.

Fantasy Impact: Perhaps it is a bit of an attempt by Jets coach Paul Maurice to send a message to his #1 net-minder Connor Hellebuyck that he simply needs to be better, or simply a reward for Laurent Brossoit after playing well and helping the Jets earn their first win of the season. Either way this situation is one that should be monitored closely, as it seems Connor Hellebuyck's #1 job could be challenged more this year. Brossoit could be a serviceable streaming option if he continues to get more starts.

Dustin Byfuglien is currently away from the Winnipeg Jets training camp and is reportedly pondering his future in the NHL. There is no timeline for a decision, though it sounds like the Jets will give him all the time he needs to figure it out. (Source: Bob McKenzie on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Losing Byfuglien on the Winnipeg Jets blueline would be a catastrophic loss for the team, especially after seeing Jacob Trouba traded to the New York Rangers in the offseason. In addition to losing Trouba, the Jets also lost Tyler Myers and Ben Chiarot via free agency. If Byfuglien does decide to retire, move Josh Morrissey way up your defense rankings as he would likely quarterback the Jets top powerplay unit.

An independent arbitrator has awarded Andrew Copp a two-year contract extension, with an annual value of $2.28 million. (Source: Sportsnet )

Fantasy Impact: Copp had a career-high 11 goals last season, to go along with 25 points, in only 69 games. He would have easily topped his career-high in points as well, 28 points in 2017-18, had he not missed time on two separate occasions last season. Copp has become an important player for the Jets, but ultimately offers little in fantasy. He will need to move out of his current bottom-six role if he is going to have any impact in fantasy.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Tyler Myers has signed with the Vancouver Canucks Monday for five years worth $30 million. (Source: Yahoo Sports)

Fantasy Impact: In six seasons with the Jets, Myers has scored 45 goals and 151 points through 365 games played. He will add a much needed physical presence to a young Vancouver blue line this year.

Marko Dano to become an UFA

Tue, Jun 25th 2:49pm EDT
By Douglas Roth

The Winnipeg Jets decided to not extend a qualifying offer to Marco Dano. He is set to become an Unrestricted Free Agent. (Source: Sara Orlesky on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Dano has not played well since his rookie season with the Blue Jackets in 2014-2015. He may return to the KHL. Where Dano played before he was a first round pick back in 2013.

Nathan Beaulieu will become an Unrestricted Free Agent as the Jets did not extend a qualifying offer. (Source: Sara Orlesky on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Europe is most likely a better option for Nathan Beaulieu. He has no fantasy value.

The Winnipeg Jets have decided to trade away Kevin Hayes to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round pick. (Source: Philadelphia Flyers on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: During 71 games played this year, Kevin Hayes recorded a career-high 55 total points with the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets. It will be interesting to see how Hayes produces as he will be reunited with head coach Alain Vigneault once again in Philadelphia.

Brandon Tanev scored a goal to help put the Jets up 4-2 against the Blues Sunday night.

Fantasy Impact: Tanev provided his first point of the post-season with his goal scored during Sunday's 6-3 win in Game Three.

Jacob Trouba scored the only Jets goal in their 5-1 loss to the Wild. He had one goal, one SHG and three SOG in 19:08 of ice-time.

Fantasy Impact: Trouba's shorty was nice to see in an otherwise feeble effort by the Jets. It being the second of a back-to-back they deserve a little bit of a leash. The Jets are tied for first and own the tiebreaker so look for a better effort next time out against the Avalanche.

Category: Game Recaps

Eric Comrie allowed five goals in the Jets 5-1 loss to the Wild on Tuesday. He saved 23-28 shots against while taking the loss.

Fantasy Impact: Comrie was forced to start in the second day of a back-to-back due to an injury. He is not fantasy relevant nor will he be in the foreseeable future.
