Jake Petricka throws a scoreless inning in White Sox victory

Jake Petricka has a solid outing on Tuesday night. Petricka pitched the ninth inning. He did not let up any hits or runs. He also had one strikeout.

Fantasy Impact

Petricka has pitched worse than his career average this season. He only has five Holds on the year. His current ERA is 3.29 with a 1.46 WHIP. Petricka has little to no value in any fantasy formats.

Jake Petricka with a save Tuesday

Jake Petricka went one and two thirds perfect innings to record his second save of the year.

Fantasy Impact

He has run the spectrum of results in his last three outings. First he came in, got touched up and took the loss. Next, he comes in to a tie game and gets the win. Now he has come in and gets everyone out to end up with a save. I still say he is largely irrelevant in terms of ownership for most leagues but if he keeps picking up wins and saves, that may change.

Jake Petricka follows recent loss with a win Sunday

Jake Petricka went a scoreless inning to get the win on Sunday. He allowed three base runners (a hit and two intentional walks) but managed to get an inning-ending double play.

Fantasy Impact

Jake Petricka is not relevant in most fantasy leagues.

Jake Petricka with the loss Thursday

Petricka went one third of an inning while allowing the base runner that would eventually score the game winning run. He had not allowed a run in his six previous outings.

Fantasy Impact

He is not a great reliever for fantasy purposes. He does not pile up wins, saves, strikeouts or even holds.

Jake Petricka faces only one batter and strikes him out

Jake Petricka came into the game in the seventh inning after Chris Sale let up a two-run homer to give Tampa the lead. Sale put a guy on base by walking him before Petricka was called to the mound. With a runner on first, Petricka struck out the final batter to end the side.

Fantasy Impact

Jake Petricka has been pitching well lately. He has an ERA under 3.0 over the last 15 games and a 1.35 WHIP. He has brought his season ERA down to 3.54 and is striking out more than six batters per nine innings. With a K/BB ratio of 2.50, Petricka is striking out more batters than he has averaged in his career. Unfortunately, his role limits his fantasy value. Even in formats who award relievers for Holds, Petricka only has four for the season. Petricka has no fantasy value at this point in the season.
