DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 7

DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 7

The DraftKings Week 6 Value Plays were strong with a monster game from Mark Ingram and value performances from John Brown, Austin Hooper, and Alvin Kamara. Unfortunately, Ben Roethlisberger was rather mediocre while Redskins D/ST and Ricardo Louis were duds. Let’s take a look at what’s on tap for Week 7.

Quarterback

Tyrod Taylor (BUF): $5,100 v. TB
Tyrod Taylor has rather limited receiving options, but he’s taking on the Bucs who rank 31st against QBs this season. Charles Clay is hurt while top wideout Jordan Matthews appears to be on the probable side of questionable to return from a broken thumb. Rookie Zay Jones has caught only five of 23 targets this season (seriously), and the Bills also just signed Deonte Thompson who was cast-off by the Bears so expectations should be pretty low there.

Despite the lack of receiving options, Taylor always seems to find a way to put up points at home whether it be through the air or on the ground. The Bills are actually averaging a little over 29 points per game at home since 2016, and Taylor has been a big part of that by averaging about 24 points per game over that span. Fire up Tyrod.

Running Backs

Marlon Mack (IND): $4,100 @ JAC
Post-hype sleeper? The Jaguars are a middling match-up for opposing backs, but the big news here is that Colts running back Robert Turbin broke his arm against the Titans on Monday night. That leaves Civil War veteran Frank Gore and Mack as the remaining options in the backfield.

Head coach Chuck Pagano stated last week that Mack would be “more involved” after he essentially won the game for them in Week 5 against the 49ers. However, Mack recorded two carries for 18 yards in the early going, and then was forgotten about because of Chuck Pagano reasons. The Colts are pledging greater involvement for Mack once again. Let’s hope Week 7 will be the “Return of the Mack.”

Carlos Hyde (SF): $5,900 v. DAL
As expected, the talk of Matt Breida cutting into Carlos Hyde’s workload was just that as Hyde played a season-high 78% of team snaps against Washington in Week 6. Hyde posted his most productive fantasy game with 24.5 points, but his price has surprisingly dropped from $6,200 to $5,900. The switch from Brian Hoyer to C.J. Beathard appears to be an upgrade for the offense (it’s hard to imagine it being a downgrade) while the 49ers have set a rather dubious record of playing teams close by becoming the first team in NFL history to lose five straight games by three points or less.

The Cowboys rank 28th against running backs this season after being shredded by Aaron Jones in Week 5. Things seem to change rather quickly with Hyde, and durability has always been a concern, but he appears to be locked into a heavy workload this week.

Wide Receivers

Bennie Fowler (DEN): $3,300 @ LAC
Emmanuel Sanders will be missing this game which means that his 8.5 targets per game will have to go somewhere else. Demaryius Thomas should see an uptick in targets of course, but he will be dealing with top Chargers cornerback Casey Heyward. Outside of Thomas, Fowler is the most likely beneficiary of Sanders’ absence as he’s expected to take on the No. 2 WR role, and he has flashed some big-game potential with a 15.3 point performance in Week 1.

Jordan Matthews (BUF): $3,700 v. TB
Assuming he plays, Matthews is a must-pair if you’re playing Tyrod Taylor. As the only viable pass catching option on the roster, Matthews is a good bet for a score against the 30th ranked defense vs. WRs.

Tight End

Hunter Henry (LAC): $4,200 v. DEN
It’s always tough to take a chance on Hunter Henry considering he’s had two goose eggs this season, but it finally looks like he’s overtaken Antonio Gates for good with back-to-back 13+ point performances.

The Broncos don’t pose a prohibitive match-up for tight ends as they rank 27th against the position this season. The Miles Austin All-Star (I still call him Henry Hunter) is a better bet than the other dart throws at the position priced under $4,500.

Defense/Special Teams

Titans D/ST (TEN): $3,400 @ CLE
The Titans play the Browns and are priced under $3,500.

Deshone “on a” Kizer “roll”, “Hollywood” Kevin Hogan, “Downtown” Josh McCown, Johnny Football, RG3, Clipboard Jesus, Charlie Frye, Colt McCoy, Tim Couch, Kelly Holcomb — it doesn’t matter who’s playing quarterback for the Browns. The Browns are the Browns.

Good luck in Week 7!
