With Valentine’s Day just a day away it seems only fitting that “teammates” seem to be the theme of my DraftKings lineup advice for Tuesday’s six-game NBA slate. Stacking isn’t necessarily a thing in DFS hoops with limited positive correlation between players on the same team. However, there are times when getting exposure to a couple of players from the same squad makes sense either due to an injury to a star player or when they are in a very favorable game environment. Those scenarios present themselves in a few situations on Tuesday’s slate. Can you feel the love in the air? These teammates do.
Note that some of the stats referenced in this article are my custom DvP calculations that combine both season and last five games data along with blending similar positions production allowed together.

One Stud
Giannis Antetokounmpo (SF/PF – MIL): $10,700
There are plenty of high-priced studs to choose from on Tuesday’s six-game slate and they are all valid options worth consideration. However, I’ll give a slight edge to Giannis Antetokounmpo in a premier matchup against the Hawks who have allowed the most DraftKings points per game to opposing SFs this season. Meanwhile, the Greek Freak has scored at least 23 points in four of his last five games with his usual stat-stuffing box score and dominated the Hawks in a previous meeting this season with 33 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Core Plays
Jimmy Butler (SG/SF – MIN): $9,300 / Karl-Anthony Towns (C – MIN): $9,200 vs HOU
Time for the first teammate combo to consider. The Timberwolves duo will cost you but there may not be teammates who are more consistent with higher upside than Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves get a pace up matchup against the Rockets in a game between two of the best teams in the West. With a high Vegas total (222) and a close spread (2.5), look for the Timberwolves duo to be heavily involved in the offense all game making them both viable options.
Dejounte Murray (PG – SA): $5,700 / Pau Gasol (PF/C – SA): $5,600 @ DEN
If you want a mid-priced buddy-stack, then look to the Spurs going against the Nuggets. Be sure to keep an eye on the news leading up to game-time as the Spurs are playing in the second game of a back-to-back but assuming both Dejounte Murray and Pau Gasol are in the starting lineup then fire up the duo in your lineups. With LaMarcus Aldridge out, along with a host of other Spurs, Murray and Gasol put up a combined line of 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists on Monday. They both get an up-tempo matchup against the Nuggets at very reasonable salaries.
Chris Paul (PG – HOU): $9,100 @ MIN
If you can’t tell, I’m very interested in getting exposure to the Timberwolves/Rockets matchup on Tuesday night. Of course, James Harden is also interesting for the Rockets but with some solid defenders on the wing for the Timberwolves, I’d prefer to get my exposure through Chris Paul. Paul has scored at least 22 points in four of his last five games while chipping in 6.0 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 3.0 three-pointers during that stretch. His assist numbers could rise on Tuesday in a matchup with the Wolves who have given up increased production by 8.9% dimes per game to opposing PGs, which also increased the chance for the double-double bonus.
Value Plays
Jordan Clarkson (PG/SG – CLE): $5,100 / Rodney Hood (SG/SF – CLE): $4,800 @ OKC
The new additions for the Cavaliers paid dividends in their first game with the new club in a big win over the Celtics. Jordan Clarkson and Rodney Hood made the biggest impact scoring a combined 32 points in just 42 minutes. Their minutes and scoring should continue to rise in their second game in a favorable matchup for wings against the Thunder who aren’t as strong defensively without Andre Roberson including allowing the third most DK points to opposing SFs over the last seven days.
Bam Adebayo (PF/C – MIA): $5,000 @ TOR
Bam Adebayo could be the bedrock or your GPP lineups with a reasonable salary and big upside. His matchup against the Raptors doesn’t look ideal on paper but it didn’t matter the last time these two teams met when Adebayo put up a monster game with 16 points and 15 boards in 32 minutes. Adebayo should get another 30-plus minutes on Tuesday with Kelly Olynyk still out. Bam! Bam!
CJ Miles (SG/SF – TOR): $3,900 vs MIA
CJ Miles has quietly put together three straight good games averaging 18.3 points while knocking down 4.7 shots from the beyond the arc per game. He remains a risky play due to his reliance on hitting shots and his limited minutes but his playing time could be a little more secure due to his recent hot shooting and the potential absence of the “OG” (Anunoby). He is worth a flier at a cheap salary to see if he stays hot.
Thon Maker (PF/C – MIL): $3,700 vs ATL
With John Henson expected to miss another game on Tuesday, Thon Maker will likely draw another start and play close to 25 minutes against the Hawks. While Maker doesn’t have elite upside, he should be a safe bet for about 6x his salary in a favorable matchup against the Hawks who have given up the third most DK points to opposing centers this season. Pair him up with Antetokounmpo for a solid “star” and “value” teammate combo. Bonus play: Consider Patrick Patterson at a similar salary with more upside if Carmelo Anthony is ruled out.
