Each Sunday night during the season, I’ll be bringing you early waiver wire suggestions to help you get a jump on the competition! Thanks for joining me as we hit the waiver wire looking for players who can help you out for Week 6 and beyond. It’s another sparse week for free agent finds, but luckily, there are still some great options — let’s go!

Wide Receiver
Auden Tate (WR – CIN): 22% owned
Week 5 stats: 3 receptions, 26 receiving yards, receiving TD
Tate saw six targets for the second straight game, hauling in three of them and scoring a Bengals’ touchdown. With John Ross on IR and A.J. Green not set to return to action immediately, Tate should continue to play a key role in Cincinnati’s passing attack
Next three weeks: @BAL, JAC, @LAR
Running Back
Ito Smith (RB – ATL): 14% owned
Week 5 stats: 5 carries, 19 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 45 receiving yards
Smith continues to play in a timeshare with Devonta Freeman, and his production is near flex-worthy. He has standalone value now, and he’s set up for a huge role if Freeman is forced to miss time for any reason.
Next three weeks: @ARI, LAR, SEA
Reggie Bonnafon (RB – CAR): 0% owned
Week 5 stats: 5 carries, 80 rushing yards, rushing TD
Bonnafon stepped up in the waning minutes of the Panthers’ win, as Christian McCaffrey dealt with cramps and headed to the sideline. His explosive play was on display with a 59-yard touchdown scamper. With CMac handling a huge weekly workload, Bonnafon may be asked to take on a complementary role in the future to lessen the load. He’s a high-upside handcuff.
Next three weeks: @TB, BYE, @SF
Other handcuffs to pickup: Alexander Mattison (RB – MIN): 23% owned, Chase Edmonds (RB – ARI): 2% owned
Tight End
Gerald Everett (TE – LAR): 8% owned
Week 5 stats: 7 receptions, 136 receiving yards
Everett compiled new career highs in receptions and receiving yards in Thursday’s loss to Seattle, and his stock is on the rise. He’s now been targeted 19 times over the past two weeks, including a 5-44-1 stat line in Week 4. Everett has carved out a solid role in the Rams’ offense, and he’s certainly worth a pickup ahead of Week 6 with some quality matchups on the horizon in Atlanta and Cincinnati.
Next three weeks: SF, @ATL, CIN
Chris Herndon (TE – NYJ): 28% owned
Week 5 stats: N/A
Herndon will make his season debut in Week 6 after serving his four-game suspension and figures to be an immediate target for a sputtering Jets offense. Grab him before his ownership spikes.
Next three weeks: DAL, NE, @JAC
Quarterback
Teddy Bridgewater (QB – NO): 9% owned
Week 5 stats: 314 passing yards, 4 TDs, INT, 5 carries, 7 rushing yards
Bridgewater has been solid in relief of Drew Brees (thumb), and he had a monster performance in a win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Saints have two great matchups in Jacksonville and Arizona in two of the next three weeks, and Bridgewater makes a solid add heading into Week 6.
Next three weeks: @JAC, @CHI, ARI
Gardner Minshew (QB – JAC): 23% owned
Week 5 stats: 374 passing yards, 2 TDs, 7 carries, 42 rushing yards, 3 fumbles lost
Minshew has put together five strong outings this season as a rookie, and he shows no signs of slowing down heading into a Week 6 home game against the Saints. Unbelievably, he’s still only 23% owned, despite proving himself as a weekly fantasy-relevant quarterback. This may be your last chance to grab him, so make the move.
Next three weeks: NO, @CIN, NYJ
D/ST
Washington Redskins D/ST: 3% owned
The ‘Skins defense has been a fairly solid option over the last three weeks, even managing to snag an interception and get four sacks against the elite New England offense. Next up is a beautiful matchup against the trainwreck Dolphins in Week 6. Washington should be among the top options at the position for that matchup.
Next three weeks: @MIA, SF, @MIN
