Now that the 2022 NFL Combine is in the books, more has become known about the current rookie draft class. Some prospects raised the stakes during the combine, while others came up short (or slow!).

Malik Willis (QB – Liberty)
Malik Willis continued his rise-up draft boards at the combine by showing off arm strength in drills but more than anything the talk was about his impressive interviews. Willis was also spotted handing out clothes to a person in need. Willis has been impressive on and off the field and is in play to be the first QB off the board in the Draft
Kenny Pickett (QB – Pitt)
Pickett finally had his hands measured and they came in at 8.5 inches which would be the smallest hands for an active QB in the NFL. A slide is likely for the Pitt QB after the hand measurement and he is already being moved down the board in Mock drafts.
Sam Howell (QB – UNC)
Howell showed off accuracy and touch on deep balls during the NFL combine. Jim Nagy (Senior Bowl Director) tweeted that Howell had by far the best spin rate at the Senior Bowl according to Zebra technologies chipped ball data. Howell’s spin rate was 728.6 vs Pickett (2nd best at the Senior Bowl) 674.2. Howell also forced the most missed tackles forced (65) by a QB since 2014 in his 2021 season at North Carolina.
Desmond Ridder (QB – Cincinnati)
In terms of sheer numbers, Ridder had the best combine among QBs. Ridder ran the fastest 40 time for a QB at 4.52, best vertical at 36″ and the best broad jump at 10’7″.
EJ Perry (QB – Brown)
Perry had an impressive combine and put up the best athletic score for a QB in the combine according to Nest Gen State. Eric Galko on Twitter pointed out that he had 7 rushing TDs and ran for 37 first downs last season. Perry was also spotted picking up trash around the bench area after the day was over.
Breece Hall (RB – Iowa State)
If there is any RB that will climb into the 1st round it will be Hall after his performance at the combine. Hall put up the best RAS (9.95) for an RB in this class, since 2015 Saquon Barkley is the only RB better than that. He was one of 6 RBs to run a sub 4.4 40 yard dash at 4.39, his 40″ vertical was the best for RBs and tied for the 3rd longest broad jump among RBs.
Kenneth Walker III (RB – Michigan State)
We found out he wants to go by Kenny moving forward, Walker had a sub 4.4 40 time at 4.38 but his vert and broad jumps didn’t really match up. Walker did show that he can catch the ball in drills which was the one knock on him coming into the pre-draft process.
Isaiah Spiller (RB – Texas A&M)
Spiller didn’t have great numbers at the combine but he participated despite nursing a strained abducted muscle. His Pro Day is scheduled for March 22nd and I expect his numbers to be much better by then
Kyren Williams (RB – Notre Dame)
Kyren Williams saw his stock plummet during the combine mainly because of his lowest (for RBs) 40 time of 4.65. Williams has gotten comps to receiving backs like Gio Bernard or James White so the combine was big for him being undersized, his vertical was underwhelming at 32″ and he had the worst broad jump at just 9’6″. The only ‘successful’ RB in the NFL with a lower RAS score (among players that participated in all the drills obviously) is Devin Singeltary, who his numbers were very similar to.
James Cook (RB – Georgia)
Cook knew the times were slow that were being clocked during the 40-yard dash, he was unofficially timed at 4.56 but the official was 4.42, faster than his brother Dalvin Cook.
Ty Chandler (RB – Tennessee)
Ty Chandler continued his rise among draft-eligible RBs by running a 4.38 40, one of 6 RBs to run a sub 4.4 40.
Brian RobinsonJr. (RB – Alabama)
Robinson ran a ‘middle of the road’ 40 at 4.53 but that was at 6’2″ and 225 lbs. Robinson forced more missed tackles in 2021 than Najee Harris in 2020 and Derrick Henry in 2015 according to PFF (comparing Alabama backs) and is known to be excellent in pass protection.
Hassan Haskins (RB – Michigan)
Haskins was one of only 6 RBs to participate in the bench press but he led the way with 27 reps, the RB record is 32. With his size 6’2″, 227 lbs and his success at the goal line he’s in line to be at least a goal-line back in the NFL
Rachaad White (RB – Arizona State)
White boosted his stock immensely at the combine with the 2nd best RAS behind Hall, 8th best since 2015 and 14th since 2010. White ran a 4.48 40, 38″ vertical and 10’5″ broad jump. Rachaad White has been getting David Johnson comps a lot lately.
Treylon Burks (WR – Arkansas)
Burks is considered the biggest ‘loser’ on the offensive side. With every other first-round projected WR (that was able to run) running a sub 4.5 40 time, Burks 4.55 40 surprised a lot of people. Burks was also unimpressive in the vertical and broad jump, he may have lost steam here but I would still not be shocked to see him as the 1st WR off the board
Garrett Wilson (WR – Ohio State)
Wilson is already high on so many boards I don’t know that his blazing 4.38 40 moved him, but it was very impressive.
George Pickens (WR – Georgia)
Pickens ran a 4,47 40 and put up a 10’5″ broad jump and he isn’t even a year removed from ACL surgery. His numbers may not have popped comparatively but that is very impressive.
Jahan Dotson (WR – Penn State)
Dotson probably broke even at the combine, his numbers were good, 4.43 40, 36″ vert with a 10’1″ broad jump but came in a bit underweight at 178 lbs, While the numbers were good the weight might take him off teams boards because of thresholds they have.
Christian Watson (WR – North Dakota State)
The hype train is at an all-time high for Watson! Watson ran a 4.36 40 time, had a 36″ vertical and an 11’4″ broad jump. Watson put together an RAS score that is 5th best all-time for a WR. He’s the 3rd WR over 90 on Next Gen Stats Athleticism Score standing 6’4″ or over with Calvin Johnson and Stephen Hill.
David Bell (WR – Purdue)
David Bell was hurt more than any WR at the combine, he ran the 2nd worst 40 time at 4.65, a middling 33″ vert, and was one of only 7 WRs to not clear 10′ in the broad jump. David Bell may not have better measurables than some of the WRs in this class but he still has top 10 film.
Skyy Moore (WR – Western Michigan)
Skyy Moore had a nice 4.41 40 time but that was expected as we’ve seen it on his film. His measurables weren’t the best comparatively in this freak of a class but he has a ton of production and will still be a day 2 selection
Greg Dulcich (TE – UCLA)
Dulcich was praised for the best gauntlet drill among the TEs from Daniel Jeremiah. It seems like he’s entrenched as the #2 TE behind Trey McBride right now
Jelani Woods (TE – UVA)
Jelani Woods put up a 9.96 (out of 10) RAS at the combine with an unbelievable 4.61 40 yard dash at 6’7″ 254 lbs. His 40 time was 2nd among TEs and he put up 24 reps on the bench press which was best among TEs.
Daniel Bellinger (TE – San Diego State)
Daniel Bellinger ran the 4th best 40 time at 4.63 and had the 2nd highest RAS score of this class at 9.45. Kent Lee Platte (creator of RAS) tweeted how Bellingers’ combine numbers were very similar to Travis Kelce’s.
