CTAs

1.01 – Breece Hall (RB – NYJ)

He’s RB22 on this board, which may be conservative considering the top RB selected in each of the past 7 NFL drafts have finished no worse than RB21. 2021 fourth-rounder Michael Carter had his moments as a rookie, but the Jets know he’s just a No. 2 running back. Anticipate Hall to shoulder 15-20 touches per game based on the workload that Carter received last season when Tevin Coleman missed time.

2.01 – James Cook (RB – BUF)

James Cook landing in the second round of the NFL Draft wasn’t something I had on my bingo card. Cook has been one of the biggest risers in my post-draft rankings as a result. He’s been described by the front office as a “sub back” who will be a pass game weapon. This is fantastic when you look at the fact that the Bills were second in neutral script passing rate last season, throwing on 64% of their plays in close games. Cook should soak up these valuable snaps with the opportunity to also contribute on early downs. With Devin Singletary due to hit the free-agent market in 2023 and Zack Moss already buried, Cook could claim most of the backfield work as early as this season.

3.01 – Jalen Tolbert (WR – DAL)

With Michael Gallup‘s health questions and underwhelming effectiveness and the departure of Amari Cooper, Jalen Tolbert can compete for the number two role behind CeeDee Lamb immediately with Dalton Schultz. Tolbert dominated at South Alabama with a 96th percentile college dominator and 95th percentile target share (33.4%). Over the last two seasons, he was seventh and sixth in receiving yards among all FBS wideouts. If he seizes the number two spot, he’ll be a screaming value in fantasy football.

4.01 – Khalil Shakir (WR – BUF)

Khalil Shakir might not have received late Day 3 draft capital (fifth-round), but he was gifted with a juicy landing spot. Shakir sits behind Jamison Crowder, who is on a one-year deal, and special teams players like Jake Kumerow and Isaiah McKenzie for snaps. Shakir is a versatile receiver who can play both inside and on the perimeter. He’s a player worth bookmarking for a middle-round pick who could be a starter in the Buffalo offense in 2023.
