Rival Fantasy NFL: Week 2

Challenges

For this week, the challenge I set up is Justyn Ross vs. Drake London. Ross somehow outscored London in Week 1 when London was blanked in the box score. London is still the obvious side to take, so I have left it open here.

There are high hopes for London this season, but the Falcons did not need to throw much to beat the Carolina Panthers when Jessie Bates was going off on the defensive side of the ball. London saw just one target on a day when Desmond Ridder threw just 18 passes at 6.4 yards per attempt. Being held without a catch is alarming, anyway that you slice it, but London should have a solid bounce back against the Green Bay Packers if the game is more competitive as expected. His showing does mean we probably need to temper expectations, but let’s see his production levels with positive gamescript before overreacting.

Justyn Ross played more snaps on special teams (nine) than he did on offense (six) during Week 1. He saw just one target but managed to haul it in for six receiving yards. It was a mild surprise to see Ross play so little on offense, especially when they were willing to risk him on special teams and when one considers just how horrible Kadarius Toney was. The Chiefs receiving corps is deep, if not top-heavy, and Travis Kelce trending towards making his season debut and Chris Jones returning means someone, somewhere, needs to be inactive. With that said, the Chiefs owe it to themselves to expand Ross’ role when it is obvious they lack both size and talent at the top of the depth chart.

NFL Fantasy Bingo

Week 1 was not kind in Fantasy Bingo. My closest card had three squares in a line with six to nine receptions (RB), 100+ receiving yards (WR), and six to nine receptions (WR) all completed. I needed one total TD (RB) and three receiving TDs (WR) to complete the Bingo. As a reminder, my squad last week consisted of Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown, Travis Kelce, Blake Grupe, and Justin Jefferson.

For Week 2, I opted to go the five card route again. My team this week has Lamar Jackson, Tony Pollard, Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, Darren Waller, Justin Tucker, and Christian McCaffrey. I chose Pollard, CMC, and Barkley because of their talent and versatility in terms of potential bingo achievements.

Some of the more difficult achievements I got saddled with this week on just one card include two rushing TDs, one receiving TD (RB), three or more receiving TDs (WR), 200 total yards (RB), three TDs passing & one rushing TD (QB), two second quarter rushing TDs (QB), 10+ yards rushing (TE), and 90 receiving yards (RB). Other challenging achievements spotted this week include two rushing TDs, one receiving TD, and one passing TD (RB), 50 rushing yards (WR), more than four sacks (QB), three rushing TDs in the fourth quarter (RB), two receiving TDs in the third quarter (WR), 25 rushing yards (TE), 100 rushing yards and five catches (RB), one passing TD (RB), and three field goals missed (K).

I remain firm in the belief that MLB fantasy bingo has a higher win probability than NFL, but I am still having fun putting my lineup together and watching my squares light up throughout the day. It is a nice addition to the fantasy experience, and at just $1 a card, it remains more entertainment than something to sweat. How did you do during Week 1? Show us your winners. Good luck to all during Week 2.
