4 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets for Deep Leagues (Week 13)

Week 13 byes are upon us and with 6 teams on a bye – Ravens, Bills, Bears, Raiders, Vikings, Giants – that’s 4 starting quarterbacks and multiple top-24 running backs, top receivers and endless flex options leaving giants holes in fantasy teams. Wins are critical this week and I have several players that offer win-now value for your fantasy team.

Deep League Waiver Wire Options for Week 13

Rostered Percentages based on Yahoo! Leagues as of the time of writing.

Jake Browning (QB – CIN) | 8% rostered in Yahoo, 5% rostered in ESPN

Jake Browning’s first career start was encouraging. Pittsburgh can be a difficult matchup and Browning was 19 of 26 for 227 yards with one touchdown and one interception. It helps when you have Ja’Marr Chase cleaning up errant passes but the overall performance was solid. This week, Browning faces Jacksonville and the Jags have been vulnerable against the pass all season. He’s a spot start for teams dealing with bye week issues. However, Browning’s value doesn’t stop at Week 13. If Browning has a strong outing, he has value as a streaming option in Week 14 against a pass-friendly Colts defense. Even if you’re hesitant to start Browning this week, he’s worth a stash in deep leagues to avoid the rush to waivers if he has a breakout performance.

A.T. Perry (WR – NO) | 3% rostered in Yahoo, 1% rostered in ESPN

A.T. Perry had a breakout performance in Week 11 with his first career touchdown and I’d anticipated we would see an increased role for Perry with Michael Thomas on IR. Unfortunately, Perry had just one catch on two targets for 7 yards. However, Perry is a strong add in deep leagues for Week 13 with Chris Olave in concussion protocol and Rashid Shaheed dealing with a thigh injury. Perry’s competition consists of Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood – neither of which has shown upside in the past. Perry could be the Saints’ WR1 this week. Temper expectations because the Saints will likely push volume to Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill, but Perry still offers value. The Saints face Detroit this week and Detroit’s defense has been an excellent matchup for opposing quarterbacks. Derek Carr could have another 300-yard performance and Perry is a flex option if both Olave and Shaheed are out.

Greg Dortch (WR – ARI) | 2% rostered in Yahoo, 0% rostered in ESPN

Similar to 2022, you won’t find Greg Dortch on most waiver wire lists. Yet, I would argue Dortch is the strongest deep league streaming option readily available on waivers if Michael Wilson is out this week. Dortch’s value is nonexistent when the Cardinals’ receiving corps is healthy. However, when a player is out, there’s a very clear trend with Dortch. When a receiver goes down with an injury, Dortch gets a boost in snaps and is nearly a lock for double-digit fantasy points. It’s odd to see a player go from zero target to high-volume, but that’s been Dortch’s role for the past two seasons. Dortch had five double-digit fantasy performances in 2022 and now he has had two back-to-back. Dortch doesn’t reach his fantasy point totals through flukes or touchdown dependency. He lives by high targets. Wilson didn’t practice at all last week which generally means a player wasn’t close to playing. The Cardinals also have a bye week coming up so holding Wilson out an additional week is a strong possibility. If Wilson is ultimately out again, expect Dortch to step up and be a flex option again for Week 13.

Tucker Kraft (TE – GB) | 2% rostered in Yahoo, 1% rostered in ESPN

Tucker Kraft stepped in as the Packers’ TE1 in Week 12 and it wasn’t a bad outing for his first true start. We certainly aren’t rushing to waivers in shallow leagues to add Kraft because he still needs to show the capacity to produce with volume. However, in deep leagues, Kraft is well worth an add. Kraft played 96% of snaps and his only competition was fellow rookie Ben Sims, but Kraft likely has to earn the trust of the coaching staff to handle more pass volume. It’s possible he earns that trust and is a streaming option for the rest of the season with Luke Musgrave‘s health in question. It’s critical to note Kraft also had the better receiving profile in college. He’s a round-three pick with excellent hands and a strong athletic profile. He could serve as a red zone threat and build off his Week 12 touchdown.
