Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 12)
Trade For
Kelly Oubre Jr. (SF, SG – PHI)
The Sixers are off to a miserable 2-7 start in January because Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey have played just twice together. This has been the story of the 15-24 Sixers’ season.
Save for the injured Jared McCain and the Sixers’ Big 3, Kelly Oubre Jr. leads the team in average shot attempts with 11.3. The athletic forward is posting 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and two steals in 37.5 minutes per game in January.
It’s been apparent Embiid and George will not play with consistency the rest of the way. Oubre is a prime candidate to pick up the slack.

Trade Away
Onyeka Okongwu is stuck in a timeshare with every-game starter Clint Capela. The USC product averages 23.8 minutes to Capela’s 22.8, but with nearly identical production between them, the fifth-year big man’s ceiling is capped.
Okongwu is fresh off his best two-game stretch of the season with performances of:
- 22 points and 21 rebounds
- 14 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists
These two outings should signal it’s time to sell high.

Trade For
Amen Thompson (PF, SF, SG – HOU)
Amen Thompson is Josh Hart-lite for fantasy purposes. While the sophomore’s assists numbers aren’t outstanding, his defensive output is rivaled by just a select few.
In his last five games, Thompson is averaging 16.6 points, 12 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 blocks and 2.2 steals on 55.4% shooting. Having the wing on your team is an incredible luxury as Thompson’s versatility outweighs his poor shooting nights, which aren’t uncommon.
Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Devin Vassell (G – SAS), OG Anunoby (F – NYK)
Trade Away
The Trail Blazers carry some pretty serious fantasy volatility roster-wide. Scoot Henderson going for 39 points on Tuesday was just the latest example. Injuries and a lack of identity are the driving forces behind Portland’s unpredictability.
Deni Avdija, for one, benefits greatly from Jerami Grant being out of the lineup. In nine games without Grant, Avdija is posting 17.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and four assists compared to 13, 5.7 and three in 29 games with Grant.
Grant is trying to work his way back from a face injury, but it doesn’t seem like he’ll be out for long. Look to move Avdija before Grant returns.
Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Kristaps Porzingis (F – BOS), Russell Westbrook (G – DEN)
