Fantasy Baseball Draft Cheat Sheet: Home Runs & Stolen Bases (2025)

Safe Picks

Shohei Ohtani (SP, DH – LAD) | ADP: 1

Must I explain the home run and stolen base potential after a 54/59 season? Yes, Shohei Ohtani will return to the mound this year, but with a once-in-a-century baseball archetype, power, speed and pitching is possible.

Francisco Lindor (SS – NYM) | ADP: 12.8

Francisco Lindor is aging like a fine Napa red. He missed 30/30 consecutive seasons last year by one bag. He posted the best wRC+ (137) of his distinguished career in 2024.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (3B, OF – NYY) ADP: 25.8

Jazz Chisholm finished fifth in stolen bases last season with 40. The Bronx gave him new life as he posted the lowest strikeout rate of his career. He is on a one-year deal and will be looking to prove himself for a big payday next season.

Ronald Acuna (OF – ATL) ADP: 26.8

The 2023 National League MVP only managed 49 games before a season-ending knee injury last year. Ronald Acuna is barely 27. At 21, he posted 41 home runs and 37 stolen bases. At 25, he hit 41 home runs and stole 73 bases. With a career .289 batting average, Acuna is well worth a third-round pick.

CJ Abrams (SS – WSH) | ADP: 56.3

In his first two big-league seasons, CJ Abrams has tallied 38 bombs and 78 stolen bases. His high strikeout rate is the catch, but at a premium position, Abrams has a high ceiling in Washington.

Jose Altuve (2B – HOU) | ADP: 45.5

Round six includes two future Hall of Famers. At age 34 last season, Jose Altuve finished last season with 20 home runs and 22 stolen bases. His career OPS is .831 and he has averaged over 22 stolen bags since 2011.

Luis Robert Jr. (OF – CWS) | ADP: 89.5

Everything was rough on the Southside last season, including Luis Robert’s stat line. Round seven is great for a player looking to rise from the ashes. He hit 38 homers and stole 20 bases in 2023. He has an OPS of 1.186 in spring training this year.

Junior Caminero (3B – TB) |ADP: 95.5

Junior Caminero is a player to take in the eighth round if you’re banking on a breakout. He slugged .424 last season, spending half of it at age 20.

Christian Yelich (OF, DH – MIL) |ADP: 106.5

Chrisitan Yelich is the delineation of a savvy vet. At 32, he stole 21 bases in only 73 games last season. He hit 19 home runs and stole 28 bases in 2023.

Randy Arozarena (OF – SEA) | ADP: 120.8

Randy Arozarena is on record saying he is now settled in with Seattle. In his last full season with the Rays (2023), he hit 23 homer runs and 83 RBI with 22 stolen bases.

Adolis Garcia (OF, DH – TEX) | ADP: 120.8

Adolis Garcia is worth this pick on power alone. If the Rangers regain their World Series form of 2023, Garcia is likely to contribute at least 25 home runs.

Anthony Volpe (SS – NYY)| ADP: 136.5

Anthony Volpe has hit 33 homers and stole 52 bases in two seasons at shortstop in the Bronx. He is an intelligent baserunner.

Colton Cowser (OF – BAL) | ADP: 158.0

Colton Cowser gets the barrel to the ball. It yielded 24 home runs last year. He was the 2024 American League Rookie of the Year runner-up. Why is he going so late?

Reaches

Julio Rodriguez (OF – SEA) | ADP: 15.3

Julio Rodriguez logged 2,000 plate appearances before his 24th birthday. He is prone to strike out, but an improvement in plate discipline makes a 40/40 season realistic. He finished 2023 with 32 home runs and 37 stolen bases.

Jarren Duran (OF – BOS) | ADP: 20.8

One of the best breakouts of the fantasy season last year, Jarren Duran hit .285 and finished with 21 home runs and 34 stolen bases. He is listed in the 96th percentile in speed across the current preseason.

Jackson Merrill (OF – SD) | ADP: 28.5

Jackson Merrill exploded down the stretch of the 2024 season. He hit 24 home runs as a rookie with an OPS of .826. He finished in the 97th and 96th percentiles, respectively, in expected batting average (xBA) and expected slugging rate (xSLG).

Michael Harris (OF – ATL) | ADP: 50

It was a down 2024 season for Michael Harris, the who won 2022 National League Rookie of the Year. He missed out on 20/20 seasons by one and two home runs, respectively, in 2022 and 2023.

Lawrence Butler (OF – ATH) | ADP: 75

This is a major reach by fantasy baseball ADP. Bear with me. Butler started 2024 in AAA and posted 22 home runs and 18 stolen bases. His hard-hit rate (47.4%) rivaled that of Bobby Witt, Bryce Harper and Francisco Lindor.

Mike Trout (OF – LAA) | ADP: 99.3

Mike Trout remains one of the best hitters on the globe. He has a career slugging rate of .581. If he stays healthy, fantasy managers can grab one of the best home-run threats in the American League across the mid-rounds. He once hit 40 homers in fewer than 500 plate appearances (2022).

Bryan Reynolds (OF, DH – PIT) | ADP: 87

Bryan Reynolds will steady a fantasy lineup. He has yet to miss significant time in any of his six seasons. He finished 2024 with 24 home runs and 10 steals and is a career .276 hitter.

Spencer Steer (1B, OF – CIN) | ADP: 98

In Spencer Steer’s first two seasons, he went put up 23/15 and 20/25 seasons. He has big upside in this range of a draft and was in the 90th percentile in batting run value a year ago.

Matt McLain (2B, SS – CIN) | ADP: 100

A shortstop with range who went for 16 home runs and 14 stolen bases with an OPS of .864 in his debut season. He has great speed on the basepaths.

Ezequiel Tovar (SS – COL) | ADP: 133

Ezequiel Tovar is only 23 but has played two full seasons for the Rockies. He is great in the outfield and cleared the fences 26 times in 2024.

Steven Kwan (OF – CLE) | ADP: 137.8

Steven Kwan had the best season of his young career in 2024. It included 14 home runs, 12 stolen bases and a batting average of .292.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF – CHC) | ADP: 149

This is a dart throw, but Pete Crow-Armstrong sets the curve in the MLB for speed. With better discipline at the dish, 20 home runs is possible.

Jackson Holliday (2B – BAL) | ADP: 195.8

Nostalgia is great for your last pick. Perhaps Jackson Holidays will break out and meet his namesake in 2025.
