Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups & FAAB Advice (2025)

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups & FAAB Advice (2025)

We have completed one more week of baseball action and are ready for another fantasy baseball waiver wire free agent acquisition budget (FAAB) run. It’s too early to overreact to some studs who may have gotten off to slow starts, but it is also time to start taking chances on others who may have gotten off to fast starts. Early in the season, we’ll be taking chances on some players who need to be rostered in most formats.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire & FAAB Targets

Each week, I will highlight a few players to target in your weekly waiver wire FAAB process, but know there are many other players available and, more importantly, others that may be better fits for your teams. If you have any questions, please ask me on Twitter (@bdentrek).

Note: We use Yahoo for player percentages and recommend players rostered in no more than 60% of leagues.

Hitters

Geraldo Perdomo (SS – ARI)

Rostered: 54%
Suggested Bid: 13%

Geraldo Perdomo has always been a glove-first player with fantasy appeal only in deeper leagues. That has changed in 2025. Perdomo entered the weekend, hitting safely in 14 out of 19 games for a .317 batting average.

Perdomo has added three home runs and three steals to go with an impressive 18 RBI. Perdomo is also showcasing elite plate discipline as he’s striking out 7.1% of the time with a 17.9% walk rate. With Ketel Marte out of the lineup, Perdomo has moved to the top of the order, elevating his fantasy upside. Perdomo is proving he should be started in most fantasy formats.

Dylan Moore (1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF – SEA)

Rostered: 37%
Suggested Bid: 6%

Dylan Moore has been a tough player to roster in fantasy, as he’s usually a utility player who provides a poor batting average, along with some power and a ton of speed. This season, things have changed, though, as Moore is seeing regular playing time with all the injuries in the Mariners’ infield.

Moore is taking advantage of the playing time by hitting .333 with four home runs and four steals. As long as Moore is continuing to play regularly, he should be rostered in 12-team and deeper leagues.

Mike Yastrzemski (OF – SF)

Rostered: 20%
Suggested Bid: 7%

Mike Yastrzemski is on quite a heater to start the season. Entering the weekend, Yastrzemski is hitting .302 with three home runs and two stolen bases. He’s walking 18.2% of the time to go with a 10.5% barrel rate and 45% hard-hit rate.

Yastrzemski is leading off versus right-handed pitchers and starting to see starts versus lefties since he’s been swinging it so well. This upcoming week, the Giants face mainly right-handed pitchers, which bodes well for a big fantasy week from Yastrzemski.

Pitchers

Tyler Mahle (SP – TEX)

Rostered: 47%
Suggested Bid: 13%

Tyler Mahle is off to a great start to the season. He has allowed two earned runs over 19.2 innings pitched with 21 strikeouts. He does have nine walks, but a 16% K-BB rate is solid, and that pairs well with a 13.3% swinging-strike rate and a 72% contact rate.

Mahle does have a 3.73 SIERA, which suggests some regression, but we’d all take a 3.73 ERA from Mahle if we could be guaranteed that number. Mahle faces the Giants next week and the Mariners the following week, making him a nice add for his upcoming starts.

Max Meyer (SP – MIA)

Rostered: 46%
Suggested Bid: 33%

Max Meyer has been outstanding this season in his first four starts. He has thrown at least 5.2 innings in each start with three earned runs or fewer. Meyer has 27 strikeouts over 24 innings pitched with a 20.4% K-BB rate. Meyer has a two-step next week versus the Reds and Mariners, making him a great waiver wire pickup this week and a pitcher worth holding onto going forward.

Chase Dollander (SP – COL)

Rostered: 17%
Suggested Bid: 22%

The Rockies have called up top pitching prospect Chase Dollander. He’s made two starts heading into the weekend, and he’s been good. Dollander has allowed six earned runs over 10.2 innings with 13 strikeouts for a 22.7% K-BB rate. Dollander faces the Royals next week with a two-step schedule the following week. He’ll be a solid start on the road and a spot starter when pitching in Coors.

2024 Fantasy Baseball Closers Depth Charts Handcuffs

Closers

A.J. Puk (RP – ARI)

Rostered: 52%
Suggested Bid: 11%

The Diamondbacks continue to rotate A.J. Puk and Justin Martinez in save situations, limiting Puk’s ceiling. Even with that platoon, Puk has been worthy of a closing role for most fantasy leagues. He enters the weekend with four saves, with 12 strikeouts over eight innings pitched for a 28.6% K-BB rate. Puk will give you nice ratios, strikeouts and saves, even if Martinez gets his own fair share of saves.

Tommy Kahnle (RP – DET)

Rostered: 19%
Suggested Bid: 6%

The Tigers’ closing situation is still in flux, but it seems Tommy Kahnle is starting to get a stronger hold on the role. Through seven appearances, Kahnle has three saves while allowing one earned run with five strikeouts. He has a 20.8% K-BB rate to go with an excellent 66.7% groundball rate. If you are looking for saves, Kahnle could be an option.
