- This isn’t a slate to skimp on starting pitchers. Some of the premier starting pitchers in the game are available today. Including the matchup of the season with Zack Wheeler against Tarik Skubal. I’ll lean with Wheeler as the Tigers had the second-highest strikeout rate in July.
- Jacob deGrom’s matchup against Seattle became much more difficult in the last few days. His worst start of the season came in his last game against the Angels. Before that start, he had gone 18 consecutive games with three earned runs allowed or fewer.
- Typically, I try to give a cheaper option here, but there are no appealing options at a lower price point. Eury Perez gets a matchup against an Aaron Judge-less Yankees team. In July, he had over a strikeout per inning with a 1.29 ERA over five starts. His cost on DraftKings is especially interesting.

- The Brewers lost one of their most important offensive piece with Jackson Chourio going on the injured list (IL). They still have the offense to score runs against Jake Irvin. Irvin is tied for the league lead in home runs allowed with 23. Since the start of June, Irvin has a 5.74 ERA with a 6.15 FIP.
- A good starting point for a Brewers stack is William Contreras. He had a two-home run game earlier this week, showing that his finger injury must be healing. Yesterday, he went 5-for-7 with another home run. In his career against Irvin, he is 4-for-12 with three extra-base hits. Two of those extra-base hits were home runs.
- Christian Yelich has never hit a home run against Jake Irvin, but he also has an impressive track record. He has gone 4-for-9 against him in his career with a pair of doubles. He is beginning to look like a platoon bat with an .856 OPS against right-handed pitchers and a .594 OPS against left-handed pitchers.
- Is the Milwaukee Brewers version of Andrew Vaughn just Barry Bonds? I would bet against it, but he is doing his best impression. He had five home runs, 21 RBI and a 1.157 OPS in July. He started August well yesterday with another home run and three more RBI. His price on DraftKings is bordering on must-play status.
- A cheaper option in the Brewers’ lineup remains Isaac Collins. His price hasn’t caught up to the fact that he had an .847 OPS in July.

- The Houston Astros get to take on Walker Buehler today. He recorded a 3.57 ERA in July. That was even though the FIP was nearly five. A matchup with a revamped Astros lineup could see his actual production get closer to his expected production.
- Let’s start our lineup with Jose Altuve, as he has been much better against right-handed pitchers this season. Fourteen of his 18 home runs have come against right-handed pitchers. He has an .818 OPS against right-handed pitchers.
- Christian Walker‘s season-long stat line still hasn’t caught up to his typical production. It looks a lot better after the July he just had — three home runs, 18 RBI and a .318 batting average. He has also been much better against right-handed pitchers this season, with 12 of his 13 home runs coming against righties. He has two home runs in his career against Buehler.
- One of the newest members of the Astros is righty masher Jesus Sanchez. He has one of the biggest discrepancies in all of baseball between right-handed and left-handed pitching. Against left-handed pitchers, he has an abysmal .393 OPS. Conversely, against right-handed pitchers, his OPS spikes to .814.

Core Studs
- As long as Kyle Stowers is facing a right-handed pitcher, he is an option as a DFS pick. He has 39 extra-base hits, including all 23 of his home runs against right-handed pitchers. Against left-handed pitchers, he has only five extra-base hits. Today, he takes on Yankees rookie right-handed pitcher Cam Schlittler.
- If you are going to play Kyle Schwarber, you have to come to grips with the difficult matchup against Tarik Skubal. Schwarber led baseball in both home runs (12) and RBI (29).
- Romy Gonzalez is scheduled to face left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon. He has a 1.041 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season.
Value Plays/Punts
- Did you realize that Kyle Higashioka is in the top 10 of baseball in wRC+ the past month? He has chipped in five home runs and three stolen bases in the last month.
- The second Red Sox lefty-masher is Rob Refsnyder. He has a .914 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season. Reminder, he will be facing left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon today.
- Ryan McMahon has a tough matchup against Eury Perez. He has settled in nicely with the Yankees, with eight hits, including two doubles, in his first week with the team.

Saturday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props
Chase Burns has struck out 10 batters in each of his last three starts. Today, he gets to take on the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are in the top 10 in the league in strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers at 22.5%.
Steven Kwan is still a member of the Cleveland Guardians. That’s good for fantasy purposes, as he is in the midst of a hot streak with the team. He has cleared a combined 1.5 hits + runs + RBI in four straight games and 12 of his last 14 games. Today, he gets a returning Bailey Ober. We last saw Ober in June. He had an ERA of 9.00 that month.
Jacob Young is in the midst of a 0-for-17 streak. His last base came on July 22nd. Things won’t get any easier today against Brandon Woodruff. Right-handed hitters are only 6-for-35 against him since he returned from his injury.
