The best players in the world play fantasy baseball on NFBC. The most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Jakob Marsee was picked up in all 57 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $78 and a minimum bid of $7. Marsee was promoted last week and has been hot at the plate.
The Marlins outfielder doesn’t have a ton of speed, but he is a speedy walk machine. Marsee stole 98 bases over the last two seasons in AA and AAA and could be a valuable speed asset down the stretch.
Cole Sands was picked up in 56 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $65 and a minimum bid of $1. The Twins decided to trade away the majority of their bullpen at the deadline, leaving Sands as the top option to close games the rest of the way.
It will most likely be a committee with Sands, Justin Topa and Kody Funderburk, but if you are gambling on one of them, it should be Sands.
Tyler Locklear was picked up in 53 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $75 and a minimum bid of $1. He was part of the return from the Mariners for Eugenio Suarez at the trade deadline.
Locklear has been playing every day for the Diamondbacks since arriving in Arizona. He doesn’t have a ton of upside, but he could be a useful accumulator for deeper formats.
Carson Whisenhunt was picked up in 49 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $89 and a minimum bid of $1. Whisenhunt is a top-100 prospect who made his debut last week for the Giants. He has an elite change-up, but the rest of the arsenal is mediocre.
Whisenhunt struggled with strikeouts this year in AAA, but they were high in the Minors before that. The Giants are thin right now in the rotation, so he has a chance to establish himself if he can pitch well.

JoJo Romero was picked up in 47 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $204 and a minimum bid of $2. Romero appears to be the frontrunner for saves in St. Louis after the Cardinals traded away Ryan Helsley.
However, the reports state it is still a committee despite Romero getting the first two saves. Kyle Leahy will likely be a factor and is a right-hander, which is important because Romero is the only lefty in the Cardinals’ pen.
Warming Bernabel was picked up in 45 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $93 and a minimum bid of $1. Bernabel made his debut recently and has been on fire, hitting .417/.432/833 with three home runs in nine games.
However, he doesn’t provide much power upside as he has only once hit double-digit home runs in a season in the Minors. He does have a good hit tool and could be an accumulator on a Rockies team that doesn’t have a lot of competition.
Blake Perkins was picked up in 45 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $47 and a minimum bid of $1. Perkins has been thrust into playing time with Jackson Chourio injured.
However, despite a hot start, Perkins does not have a ton of upside outside of stolen bases. He will play until Chourio is back and has mostly deep league value.
Keegan Akin was picked up in 43 leagues with a max bid of $26 and a minimum bid of $1, while Corbin Martin was picked up in 36 leagues with a max bid of $45 and a minimum bid of $1.
The Orioles are missing closer Felix Bautista, and traded Seranthony Dominguez at the deadline, which has left a hole at the closer position. This is likely a committee moving forward with Yennier Cano factoring in as well, but there is value if one reliever can take the role for himself.
