9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes Ahead of Week 3 (2025)

9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes Ahead of Week 3 (2025)

Week 2 is upon us and that means it’s now time to start thinking about Week 3. While your leaguemates concentrate on the immediate fixtures, you can gain an edge by looking to next week’s fixtures and seeing which players might be worth picking up ahead of time to gain an advantage. Instead of fighting things out on the waiver wire, these players could join your roster for free, now. We use rostership levels from Yahoo, which provides a large sample size and tends to be fairly reliable. We understand that you’ll be dying to say ‘he’s not available in my league’ to every suggestion, even those under 10%, but by selecting players typically under 50% rostered, we should have a good range of players available in many leagues. Let’s dive into our top fantasy football waiver wire stashes ahead of NFL Week 3.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes Ahead of Week 3

Michael Penix Jr. (QB – ATL) – 40% Rostered

We haven’t seen Michael Penix use his legs in the NFL until now. He had a career-high six rushing attempts for 21 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. He’s a big athletic dude, but he’s had injuries, so has stayed away from running at times, but if he’s going to start using his legs more then he can be a good value. We know Drake London is an elite wide receiver, Darnell Mooney will be back soon and Kyle Pitts even looked okay in Week 1. Penix has a tough matchup against the Vikings in Week 2, but then plays the Panthers and Commanders in Weeks 3 and 4, which could be really good for fantasy football.

Bhayshul Tuten (RB – JAX) – 54% Rostered

We’ll break the 50% rule to invoke Bhayshul Tuten’s name, as in the wake of Tank Bigsby being traded, Tuten deserves to be rostered in every league and every format. The Jaguars always looked ripe for trading one of Travis Etienne or Bigsby and now that things look clearer, Tuten has the potential to be a strong fantasy option as the season goes on. When James Gladstone interviewed to be the general manager of the Jaguars he referenced Tuten as the type of player who he thought could make a difference for them. Gladstone got the job and the Jaguars got Tuten in the draft. Etienne has rarely played consistently well for a whole season and Tuten looks like a very high-value handcuff.

Trey Benson (RB – ARI) – 50% Rostered

This is still James Conner‘s backfield, but the split is much bigger this year with Trey Benson seeing 40% of carries as they rotated drives in Week 1. Benson showed his explosiveness on the 52-yard rush he had, and he could really grow into a bigger role as this season goes on. We want backup running backs that also offer standalone value and that looks like Trey Benson right now.

Tyler Allgeier (RB – ATL) – 30% Rostered

All offseason, Tyler Allgeier was one of the most glaring values in fantasy football, and it took only one week of action for that point to be reinforced further. Allgeier saw ten rush attempts to Bijan Robinson‘s 12 and posted identical numbers in rushing yards (24) and yards before contact (1.92) and bettered Robinson in yards after contact (0.50 vs 0.08). It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Allgeier looked good, after all he finished 2024 10th in explosive run rate and ranked seventh in juke rate.

Darnell Mooney (WR – ATL) – 50% Rostered

After missing Week 1, Darnell Mooney looks set to return in Week 2 having been removed from the injury report on Friday. Mooney averaged almost 13 PPR points per game in 2024, thriving as a deep threat in this Falcons offense and with stability at quarterback there is potential he could take another leap. Not to mention if Drake London misses time, he could be very valuable.

Cedric Tillman (WR – CLE) – 37% Rostered

There’s been a question mark for a little while now around who is the better value between Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman, but with every game Tillman is healthy for it starts to look increasingly like Tillman is the alpha. In the five full games that Tillman has been healthy for since Amari Cooper was traded away from the Browns, Tillman averages 9.6 targets per game and 70.8 receiving yards. The Browns play the Ravens this week, who on one hand are a far better defense than the Bengals were in Week 1, but on the other, they just gave up close to 400 passing yards to the Bills… Tillman had a great four-game stretch last year before a concussion ended his season. Now healthy, he picked back up where he left off, with eight targets and catching five for 52 yards with a touchdown. Tillman might not be relevant all year, but while Joe Flacco is QB, he should be fine.

Isaac TeSlaa (WR – DET) – 9% Rostered

For the deep league sickos… Isaac TeSlaa caught an impressive touchdown in Week 1 and head coach, Dan Campbell said that TeSlaa will play more in the coming weeks. The only reason he didn’t play more in Week 1 was due to illness. Campbell is one of the more reliable coaches when it comes to topics like this and the Lions did trade up for him in the third round, it shouldn’t be surprising if they expect him to contribute early.

Harold Fannin Jr. (TE – CLE) – 42% Rostered

I know, two Cleveland Browns players in one article. It’s wild, but so was Harold Fannin Jr’s usage in Week 1. He led the team in targets with nine and caught seven passes for 63 yards, and could be the perfect guy to grab if you’ve got George Kittle, Brock Bowers or you’re sick of dealing with Mark Andrews. Fannin had a 20% target share and it seemed clear he was a big part of the game plan. Maybe he’s not startable every week, not that many tight ends are, but he could be worth grabbing now and seeing how the usage looks for a couple of weeks.

Brenton Strange (TE – JAX) – 30% Rostered

The Jags didn’t look great in Week 1, but they are learning a new scheme, and sometimes that does take time. Brenton Strange caught all four of his targets for 59 yards. Going back to Week 15 of last year, he’s now seen at least four targets in all but one game and next week the Jags play the woeful Bengals defense, who Harold Fannin just gashed. Strange is a priority streaming option if you’re scrambling to replace Brock Bowers.
