Closer News & Notes

Carlos Estevez has taken the lead in saves with 38. Since August 18th, he is six-for-six in save chances. He also has not allowed an earned run in eight straight appearances. Robert Suarez has only logged two saves in that same span, but he has also recorded six straight scoreless appearances.

Trevor Megill is continuing to work his way back from a flexor strain. He was able to throw a bullpen session earlier this week. He’ll progress to facing live hitters next. Abner Uribe remains in the closer role for now in the Brewers’ bullpen.

Randy Rodriguez was transferred to the 60-day injured list (IL) and may require Tommy John surgery. Ryan Walker will finish the season in the closer role for the Giants.

Kyle Finnegan had seemed to take hold of the closer role in the Tigers’ bullpen. He was injured warming up recently and remains day-to-day for now.
