We learned a lot in Week 1, so we can use that to inform our lineup decisions. The best way to do so is to focus on the matchup, consider the game script and compare your thoughts with FantasyPros’ expert consensus rankings (ECR). You’ll find three fantasy football booms to start and three busts to bench for Week 2. We need to balance what we’ve learned in Week 1 while not overreacting as we head into the second week of the season. With that in mind, let’s make those lineup decisions easier for you in Week 2.

Fantasy Football Week 2
Fantasy Football Boom Starts
Javonte Williams (RB – DAL)
If you drafted Javonte Williams this year, you likely got him as your RB3 or RB4. That puts him as one of your borderline starters, making him a viable inclusion in this column.
You have to love how Javonte dominated touches in Week 1, including 15 carries and two receptions, while Miles Sanders was limited to five total touches. Up next is a projected positive game script against the Giants, where the Cowboys are 5.5-point home favorites. We just saw the G-Men gashed by Jacory Croskey-Merritt for 82 yards on only 10 carries.
Marquise Brown (WR – KC)
With the Chiefs dealing with an injury to Xavier Worthy and a suspension to Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown becomes a rock-solid fantasy WR3. The veteran saw heavy volume in Week 1, where he caught 10-of-16 targets for 99 yards.
Expect to see another pass-heavy game script from the Chiefs in a tough spot against the Eagles. That could mean another double-digit target game for Brown, giving him a nice floor with some upside despite the challenging matchup.
Keon Coleman (WR – BUF)
Keon Coleman delivered on preseason hype in Week 1, catching 8-of-11 targets for 112 yards and a touchdown. While we have to temper expectations because it was an uncharacteristically pass-heavy game for the Bills, Coleman is clearly the wideout you want in this offense.
Fire up the second-year player in an exploitable matchup against the Jets, who just got picked apart by Aaron Rodgers for four touchdowns, including 83 yards to DK Metcalf and 70 yards to Calvin Austin.
Fantasy Football Bust Sits
Cooper Kupp (WR – SEA)
Cooper Kupp was limited to two catches for 15 yards in Week 1. The Seahawks have a run-heavy offense with Jaxon Smith-Njigba (13 targets in Week 1) dominating the target share. Add in the fact that Kupp is on the decline, and this is a clear avoid.
This is more of a deep league suggestion, as Kupp is likely your WR4 or WR5 in traditional formats. With that said, it’s important to emphasize that Kupp does not belong anywhere near your starting lineup right now, even against the Steelers, who just got burned by Garrett Wilson.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. (RB – NYG)
Tyrone Tracy Jr. dominated the workload for the Giants in Week 1, including 10 carries and five targets, but it’s hard to trust this offense with Russell Wilson under center and left tackle Andrew Thomas potentially out for another game.
We just saw the Cowboys limit Saquon Barkley to 60 yards on 18 carries (3.3 YPC). Don’t be surprised if they completely shut down the Giants’ running game in this spot.
Isiah Pacheco (RB – KC)
I came into the season high on Isiah Pacheco, as I believed that he got his burst back. While he looked decent in Week 1, the volume was low, with short yardage and passing downs going to Kareem Hunt.
Even though I like Pacheco as a buy low, since I think that he’s clearly the best pure runner in this backfield, it’s hard to start him in Week 2 against a tough Eagles defense that will be getting Jalen Carter back for this game.
