Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets
All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues.
Jaxson Dart (NYG) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (44.2% Rostered)
Rarely do rookie quarterbacks play well out of the gate, especially in bad situations. However, Dart has been productive since taking over under center for Russell Wilson. The former Ole Miss star has completed 65% of his pass attempts for 313 yards and three touchdowns in his two starts. More importantly, he has been a fantasy star on the ground despite Cam Skattebo’s emergence. Dart has 17 rushing attempts for 109 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks, totaling at least seven and 54 in both outings.
Despite a lack of upside pass catchers with Malik Nabers out for the season, the rookie has averaged 17.7 fantasy points per game as a starter. Last week, Dart scored 15.6 fantasy points despite having three turnovers. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defense hasn’t been elite this year. They have surrendered 18.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks since Week 1, allowing 17.9 or more in all but one contest. More importantly, Philadelphia has given up 20.8 rushing yards and 3.3 fantasy points per game on the ground to quarterbacks.
Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (21.9% Rostered)
Tagovailoa has been a solid streaming option since his awful Week 1 performance. The veteran has averaged 223.5 passing yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 17.5 fantasy points per game over the past four weeks, totaling at least two touchdowns in every outing. More importantly, he is coming off his best performance this year. Tagovailoa completed 75% of his pass attempts for 256 yards, three touchdowns, and 22.7 fantasy points against the Carolina Panthers despite missing Tyreek Hill because of a season-ending injury. Yet, he could be even better in Week 6.
Los Angeles hasn’t faced many elite quarterbacks this year. Yet, the Chargers have struggled to slow down opposing passers not named Geno Smith. They have given up 19.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks in the four other contests, surrendering 20.2 or more twice, including to Jaxson Dart. Last week, Jayden Daniels had 231 passing yards, one touchdown, and 17.1 fantasy points against Los Angeles in his first game back from a knee injury despite missing Terry McLaurin. Tagovailoa should have over 20 fantasy points for the second consecutive game.
Sam Darnold (SEA) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (14.4% Rostered)
Last week, Darnold had a top-five fantasy performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former USC star completed 82.4% of his 34 pass attempts for 341 yards, four touchdowns, and 27.6 fantasy points, setting season-highs in every category. Yet, the veteran has been one of the better fantasy quarterbacks since his poor Week 1 performance. Darnold has averaged 274 passing yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 19.1 fantasy points per game over the past four weeks, totaling two or more scores and at least 16.1 fantasy points in all but one contest.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars have played well on defense. While Jacksonville had only one turnover last week, they forced at least three in each of the first four games this season, including nine interceptions. However, the Jaguars have struggled to slow down opposing quarterbacks. They have given up 287 passing yards, 1.8 touchdowns, and 19.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks since Week 1. Furthermore, Patrick Mahomes had 26.7 fantasy points against Jacksonville last week despite having only one passing touchdown. Expect Darnold to keep up his recent hot play.
Mac Jones (SF) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2.2% Rostered)
Unfortunately, Brock Purdy aggravated his turf toe injury, forcing him to miss the Week 5 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Purdy is without a timeline for a return and is considered week-to-week. Therefore, Jones will likely make his fourth start this season against the Buccaneers on Sunday. The former Alabama star has completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 301.7 yards, two touchdowns, and 19.1 fantasy points per game in his three starts, totaling at least two touchdowns and 21.8 fantasy points twice.
More importantly, Jones is coming off an outstanding performance despite playing without Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings, and George Kittle, completing 67.3% of his pass attempts for 342 yards, two touchdowns, and 22.2 fantasy points. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers gave up 341 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 27.6 fantasy points to Sam Darnold last week. Furthermore, they’ve surrendered 234.6 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 20.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. While Jones is playing through a knee injury, the veteran is a top-12 quarterback in Week 6 if starting.
