Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 21)

Trade For

Darius Garland (PG – LAC)

The Clippers probably didn’t anticipate going 11-5 after trading a healthy James Harden for a banged-up Darius Garland — but here we are. Garland has yet to play a part in a losing effort for his new squad.

Garland missed Friday’s game with left toe management, and it wouldn’t come as a shock to see him sit out a few more games down the stretch. However, as the Clippers chase a playoff spot, they’d certainly prefer their new former All-Star to be on the court as much as possible. Garland has played anywhere from 23 to 30 minutes since joining L.A., averaging 17.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and one steal.

Garland represents a low-risk, high-reward player who can very likely see increased minutes and volume as the season comes to a close.

Players Ranked Higher to Trade For Him:

Trade Away

Mikal Bridges (PF, SF, SG – NYK)

Deciding which players to target at this point in the season is as much about acquiring surging production as anything else. Mikal Bridges is heading in the opposite direction at the moment.

Bridges has averaged 30 minutes across New York’s last eight games, averaging just 10.4 points and 24.28 fantasy points. Moving off of the Knicks wing is absolutely a sell-low move, but he’s really hurting fantasy managers who roster him. Trade Bridges for a player of lesser value who’s putting up better numbers.

Players Ranked Lower to Trade Him For:

Trade For

VJ Edgecombe (PG, SG – PHI)

The 76ers are effectively VJ Edgecombe‘s team for the time being. With Tyrese Maxey‘s finger injury, Joel Embiid‘s shaky health and Paul George‘s suspension, Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes are the two primary scoring options in Philly’s rotation.

The rookie’s fantasy ceiling has always been capped by the high-scoring duo of Maxey and Embiid. Without their 55.6 combined points and 40.1 attempts per game in the lineup, Edgecombe’s opportunity skyrockets. He simply needs to make the most of it.

An untimely back injury kept Edgecombe out of the lineup for three games after he had averaged 19 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in the five games prior.

Players Ranked Higher to Trade For Him:

Trade Away

Miles Bridges (SF, PF – CHA)

The reasoning for trading away Miles Bridges is the same as that of moving on from Mikal Bridges.

Despite playing just over 30 minutes per game in recent contests, Bridges hasn’t been able to find a groove offensively. For a player who largely relies on scoring to put up fantasy points, Bridges’ stock takes a huge hit when he’s in a rut.

The longtime Hornet is posting 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 stocks (steals plus blocks) per game on the season, rendering him a limited fantasy player when he’s not scoring his usual 18-20 points.
