3 QB2s With Top-5 Potential (2026 Fantasy Football)

Finding a late-round quarterback value can be one of the key pillars to a championship-winning fantasy football roster. Last season, that player was Drake Maye, who had a late-round average draft position (ADP) and finished as the overall fantasy QB2.

Below, I’ll list three players who could become the next Maye. To be considered a QB2, a signal-caller must have an ADP of QB13 or later.

Fantasy Football QB2s With Top-5 Potential

Bo Nix (QB – DEN)

Right now, Bo Nix’s ADP is down to QB14, as he’s coming off an injury in which he suffered a broken bone in his ankle. That said, during last year’s regular season, he finished as the QB7 and had some massive games, including Week 7 against the New York Giants.

Nix finished the season with 3,931 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also ran 83 times for 356 yards and five more scores. He was tied for fourth among all quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns, finished 11th in yards and was tied for fifth in rushing attempts.

In addition to entering his third season, Nix also has a new No. 1 WR at his disposal in Jaylen Waddle.

While the injury could give some pause, he’s shown he’s a mobile quarterback who takes good care of the ball and has a new, fantastic weapon in the passing game.

Coming off a QB7 season, QB5 isn’t too much of a stretch.

Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR)

Matthew Stafford finished as the QB3 last season, but his ADP is down to QB15. I understand he’s older, but he hasn’t really shown any signs of slowing down.

Sure, I would’ve liked to see the Rams add another wide receiver rather than a quarterback at No. 13 overall in the draft. However, Stafford still has Davante Adams and Puka Nacua at his disposal, along with several tight ends, including second-round pick Max Klare out of Ohio State.

Last season, Stafford was third in pass attempts and tied for second among all quarterbacks with at least 300 dropbacks in average depth of target (aDOT) at 9.5 yards.

Do I expect another season with 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions? That might be a bit far-fetched, but I see no reason not to look forward to another top-five season, unless Nacua were to miss significant time during the season due to a suspension stemming from an incident that resulted in him checking himself into a treatment facility.

Kyler Murray (QB – MIN)

Kyler Murray’s stock is quite low right now, but he’s entering a fantastic situation in Minnesota. Yes, there’s always a chance J.J. McCarthy finds his way into the lineup.

However, signing Murray signals the Vikings want to start him while McCarthy learns more. If Murray performs well, they part ways with McCarthy and move forward with Murray.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Murray at his best, but here’s how he did in the few years before last:

2024: Finished as the QB10.
2023: Only played in eight games, but averaged 18.9 fantasy points per game, which was ninth among signal-callers.
2022: Only played in 11 games, but was the fantasy QB6 from Weeks 1 to 9.

Now Murray joins a Vikings team with a quarterback-friendly head coach in Kevin O’Connell and a receiver room with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings.

That, along with his rushing ability, makes Murray a top contender for QB5 or better in 2026.
