As is typical on Sundays, we’re back to afternoon main slates. DraftKings’ main MLB DFS slate includes the eight games that begin at 1:35 p.m. ET. FanDuel’s main slate at that same time slot includes a ninth game.
That game is between the Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Of course, there are opportunities for batters in that game, but for consistency across sites, there are no recommendations from that game.

- There has been some discussion as to what is wrong with Paul Skenes in 2026. The short answer is nothing. His FIP of 2.88 is slightly higher than his first two seasons, but it’s still a top-10 mark in baseball. While his ERAs were a bit lucky to stay under 2.00 in his first two seasons, Skenes has been a bit unlucky this season with a 3.57 ERA. He’s only the fourth-most expensive pitcher on FanDuel.
- Eury Perez has looked more like his dominant self since returning at the end of June from a thigh injury that cost him nearly a month. He’s made four starts since returning, which have covered 23 innings. In those four starts, he has an ERA of 1.57, which is better than his 3.14 FIP.
- Noah Cameron has made 18 starts this season. In six of those starts, including his last two, he’s scored 20+ points on DraftKings. He’s also had seven games in which he failed to reach double digits, including three starts with negative points. It’s a very boom-or-bust selection, but Cameron’s matchup today is favorable. He faces a Padres team that is third-worst in the league in wOBA against left-handed pitchers. His DraftKings price is much more appealing.

- This game between the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins could be full of home runs if the wind is blowing out at Wrigley Field. Both pitchers in this game, Shota Imanaga and Zebby Matthews, have groundball rates below 40%. That many balls in the air could lead to a really high-scoring effort. While the Cubs are also in play, let’s look at a team with more affordable options in the Twins.
- Due to an injury, we have only gotten 47 at-bats from Ryan Jeffers this season against left-handed pitching. He’s been great in those at-bats with five extra-base hits, including a home run. Jeffers already has two doubles in the three games he’s played since returning from injury.
- This looks like the best version of Royce Lewis we’ve seen yet in the Majors. He’s had power stretches in the past that were driven by exceptionally high home-run-to-fly-ball rates, but this version feels sustainable. Since he was recalled from the minor leagues on June 6th, Lewis has 15 extra-base hits in 33 games. That’s led to an .804 OPS in that span.
- This is shaping up to be one of Josh Bell‘s best seasons in his decade-long career. He has 35 extra-base hits this season after hitting only 39 all last season. While he’s been better against right-handed pitching this season, as a switch-hitter, Bell holds his own against left-handed pitchers, too, with a .717 OPS.

- The Miami Marlins have a matchup with left-handed Robert Gasser scheduled today. He’s coming off a game in which he allowed seven earned runs in only three innings against the Pirates. It pushed Gasser’s season ERA to 5.24, a nearly identical mark to his 5.28 FIP.
- The challenging part about recommending the Marlins is that they don’t hit a lot of home runs. They’re in the bottom 10 in that regard, yet they’re sixth in wOBA because they have so many consistent hitters. Let’s start with one of those consistent hitters in Xavier Edwards. While he’s far from a big-time home run threat, four of his six homers have come against left-handed pitchers. He’s also stolen 13 bases this season, another way he can provide value.
- Kyle Stowers is the most traditional slugger in the Marlins’ lineup. He has 31 extra-base hits in 73 games this season. That makes sense as he has a 54% hard-hit rate, which is in the 97th percentile of all hitters.
- Heriberto Hernandez is another hitter in the Marlins’ lineup who can deliver big power production in this matchup. He has a .999 OPS in 108 at-bats since the start of June. Seven of his 13 home runs on the season have come against left-handed pitchers.

Core Studs
- Yandy Diaz has gone 5-for-8 against Sonny Gray in his career with a pair of extra-base hits. One of those extra-base hits was a home run. As a leadoff batter, Diaz always has an opportunity for extra at-bats.
- There has not been a better hitter in all of baseball in July than Garrett Mitchell. He has gone 23-for-56 this month, which is a .410 batting average. It’s not an empty batting average either, as 10 of those hits have gone for extra bases.
- The All-Star break seems to have rejuvenated Drake Baldwin. In the 24 games before the All-Star break, he had only two home runs and a .472 OPS. Coming out of the break, he has started 5-for-9 with a pair of runs, a home run and six RBI.
Value Plays/Punts
- Ty France‘s track record against Michael Wacha is phenomenal — 12-for-28 with six extra-base hits, including a home run.
- Isaac Paredes is the type of player you can roster in DFS if you are trying to take down a big tournament. There is always the potential for a big performance from him, especially when he has a matchup against right-handed pitchers like he does today against Brandon Young.
- I said yesterday that I didn’t think I would be able to recommend Brandon Nimmo as a value play much longer. I get at least one more opportunity today. That’s despite his going 2-for-5 yesterday with three RBI.

Sunday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props
It’s really surprising to see Sean Burke‘s strikeout line set this low. The last time Burke failed to exceed this number was back on May 20th.
Since then, Burke has pitched in nine games in which he has struck out at least six batters. His matchup today is against the Toronto Blue Jays. They can be a tough team to strike out (19.6% strikeout rate), but he has blown by 5.5 strikeouts in his last few starts.
This is the recommendation where we’re going to take advantage of the Colorado matchup. Elly De La Cruz can easily get to two total bases in any matchup. He has done so in four of his last five games.
Adding in the expansive outfield of Coors Field, along with a matchup against Ryan Feltner, is just a bonus.
Alan Rangel has made four pitching appearances since being recalled by the Phillies. He’s only cleared 13.5 pitching outs in one of those appearances, and it was his very first one on June 22nd.
The thing is, it’s not a lack of pitches being thrown; it’s just been a lack of efficiency. Rangel threw at least 69 pitches in each appearance, and even topped out at 90 pitches. Perhaps he’ll keep being inefficient and fail to record 14 outs today, but that’s a chance I’m willing to take.
