Targeting pitchers who face teams with high strikeout rates and who don’t generate a lot of quality contact can be valuable. Here are the current bottom-five teams in strikeout rate against right- and left-handed pitchers:

Takeaways

The Angels, Orioles, Yankees and Pirates are in the bottom five in strikeout rate against both right- and left-handed pitchers. Since July 1st, the Angels, Yankees and Pirates have the worst strikeout rates in the league.
The Blue Jays and Mets are the only teams that show up on the bottom five wOBA charts against pitchers from both sides of the rubber. In July, the Blue Jays have the single worst wOBA as a team, while the Mets have started to heat up.
Troy Melton gets two starts on the road in two of the more pitcher-friendly ballparks in the league. He goes to Seattle first to face the Mariners before heading to San Francisco for a date with the Giants. Both teams are in the bottom six in Statcast park factor.
