6 Overvalued Fantasy Football Draft Picks to Avoid on RTSports (2026)

The 2026 NFL preseason is underway, meaning we’ve officially hit the start of redraft fantasy football season. Therefore, it’s time to do all the preparation fantasy players ignored over the past few months. Many factors go into fantasy players winning their redraft league every year. However, the top factor is arguably avoiding players that will bust or are overpriced.

Overvalued Fantasy Football Players to Avoid on RTSports

Let’s look at six players who are overpriced draft picks based on RTSports ADP for redraft leagues.

Jalen Hurts (PHI) – ADP 77.19 | QB6

Last year, Hurts averaged 18.7 fantasy points per game, posting an average below 20.8 for the first time in his career as the full-time starting quarterback despite totaling a career-high 25 passing touchdowns. Unfortunately, Hurts’ rushing production regressed, totaling single-digit rushing touchdowns for the first time since his rookie season. While the Eagles added several pass catchers this offseason, none of them will make up for the loss of A.J. Brown. Fantasy players can draft Justin Herbert nearly two rounds later and get similar upside out of the quarterback position.

Christian McCaffrey (SF) – ADP 5.58 | RB3

No one scored more PPR fantasy points than Christian McCaffrey last year (416.6). Unfortunately, the superstar turned 30 this offseason and is a ticking time bomb because of his age and injury history. He had 413 touches in 2025, a career high. The last time McCaffrey had over 400 touches in a year, the superstar missed 69.7% of the games over the next two seasons with an injury. More importantly, the superstar has missed time during training camp with muscle tightness, giving fantasy players PTSD from the 2024 season.

Bucky Irving (TB) – ADP 40.53 | RB21

After finishing his rookie season as the RB13, averaging 14.4 PPR fantasy points per game, Irving regressed last year and struggled to stay healthy, missing seven contests. Furthermore, he had offseason shoulder surgery. More importantly, Irving averaged two fewer yards per rushing attempt and 0.28 fewer fantasy points per touch last year compared to his rookie season. The Buccaneers signed Kenneth Gainwell to a significant contract in free agency, calling the veteran a co-starter during training camp, showing their lack of trust in Irving as a featured running back.

Justin Jefferson (MIN) – ADP 12.82 | WR5

Jefferson has been a fantasy superstar since he entered the NFL. Unfortunately, the veteran is coming off a massively disappointing season, finishing last year as the WR21, averaging 11.9 PPR fantasy points per game despite finishing seventh in the league with 141 targets. Meanwhile, the Vikings added Jauan Jennings in free agency, adding some target competition for Jefferson. While the addition of Kyler Murray should help him rebound from an awful 2025 season, fantasy players want to avoid drafting Jefferson as a top-five wide receiver and a one-two turn pick.

Luther Burden III (CHI)– ADP 45.81 | WR21

The hype around Burden has gotten out of control. He averaged fewer PPR fantasy points per game than Theo Wease Jr. last season (8.6 vs. 8.5). While everyone says Burden was a superstar during the fantasy playoffs, he missed Week 16 and took advantage of an injury obliterated San Francisco 49ers defense in Week 17 where Rome Odunze didn’t play, totaling eight receptions on nine targets for 138 receiving yards, a touchdowns, and 27.8 fantasy points. Furthermore, Burden scored 12.2 fantasy points on 14 targets during Chicago’s two playoff games.

Harold Fannin Jr. (CLE) – ADP 65.33 | TE5

Unfortunately, Fannin will have massive target competition in 2026 after the Browns drafted KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. He averaged 9.3 PPR fantasy points per game in the 11 contests with seven or fewer targets last year. By comparison, Fannin averaged 16.9 fantasy points per game in the five contests with eight or more targets. Fantasy players should take Tyler Warren a few picks earlier or wait nearly two rounds to select Sam LaPorta (TE8). I would rather have both tight ends over Fannin, even at the same draft cost.
