Smash Spots
Logan Webb (SP – SFG) vs. COL
Logan Webb has been dominant at home. He should be able to cruise through a weak Rockies lineup. It wouldn’t surprise me to see seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in this one.
Troy Melton (SP – DET) vs. CWS
Troy Melton has been on an insane run for the Tigers. Bet on him to keep it rolling against an inconsistent White Sox offense. The Tigers have played great baseball lately, so you’ll have a good chance at a win here.
Max Fried (SP – NYY) vs. SEA
We just saw Max Fried shut down a red-hot Braves offense. It looks like the Yankees’ ace has found his groove since returning from injury. I like his chances at a strong outing versus the Mariners.
Risky Starts
Logan Gilbert (SP – SEA) @ NYY
Logan Gilbert has been terrific for the Mariners, but a start on the road in Yankee Stadium can be risky. With that said, the Yankees’ bats have been cold lately. They desperately need Aaron Judge back.
Nolan McLean (SP – NYM) @ ATL
We’ve seen Nolan McLean have some blowup starts at times for the Mets this season. I’m worried we see something like that in a tough matchup versus the red-hot Braves.
Jose Soriano (SP – TOR) vs. BOS
I’m hopeful the Blue Jays can unlock more from Jose Soriano, just like they did with Dylan Cease, but the Red Sox are the hottest team in baseball. Temper expectations.
Two-Start Pitchers
Ryan Weathers (SP – NYY) vs. SEA, @ TOR
Ryan Weathers has a two-step on deck in a pair of exploitable matchups against the Mariners and the Blue Jays. I like Weathers’ chances to record at least seven strikeouts versus the M’s.
Tanner Bibee (SP – CLE) @ DET, vs. SDP
Tanner Bibee has been in a nice rhythm lately. I like his chances at combining for 10+ strikeouts with at least one win in a pair of quality outings in exploitable matchups versus the Tigers and the Padres.
Christian Scott (SP – NYM) @ ATL, vs. WSH
Christian Scott has been rock-solid for the Mets. While the first matchup against the Braves is a tough one, I think he can cruise through an undermanned Nationals’ lineup without James Wood.
