Dylan Cease is the highest-ceiling hurler on this MLB DFS slate. He’s pitching at an elite level this year, posting the following numbers in 21 starts spanning 126.1 innings, per FanGraphs:

Boston is also sixth in wRC+ (116) with a 20.9% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and second in wRC+ (130) with a 20.1% strikeout rate in the last 14 days. Nevertheless, the Blue Jays are -148 favorites, and the game’s total is 7.5 runs.

Kyle Harrison (SP – MIL) at San Diego Padres

Kyle Harrison might offer more bang for your buck than Cease, making him my favorite pitcher in cash games, albeit an exciting one for GPPs, too. In 18 starts spanning 88.2 innings this season, the lefty has twirled the following stats:

However, San Diego is first in wRC+ (123) with an 18.3% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and tied for fifth in wRC+ (111) with an 18.1% strikeout rate in the last 14 days. The betting info suggests oddsmakers and bettors are more interested in the full-season numbers, as the Brewers are -140 favorites, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.

Sean Burke (SP – CWS) vs. Cincinnati Reds

Sean Burke had a disappointing start in his last turn on August 5th, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks, with four strikeouts across only 4.1 innings. Cincinnati is also 16th in wRC+ (93) with a 26.1% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and 19th in wRC+ (90) with a 30.2% strikeout rate in the last 14 days. Thus, the White Sox are -165 favorites, and the game’s total is eight runs.

Michael Wacha has a blistering 1.82 ERA in his previous four starts, totaling 24.2 innings. Kansas City’s bullpen is also dreadful, ranking 29th in ERA (5.37).

Shohei Ohtani has crushed 26 home runs with 75 runs, 72 RBI, seven stolen bases, a .396 on-base percentage (OBP), .251 ISO, .394 wOBA and 151 wRC+ in 500 plate appearances this season.
Max Muncy has drilled 42 dingers with a .379 OBP, .242 ISO, .376 wOBA and 141 wRC+ in 837 plate appearances against righties since 2024.
Luis Garcia Jr. has smashed a career-high 24 homers with 50 runs, 78 RBI, four stolen bases, a .311 OBP, .271 ISO, .366 wOBA, .353 expected wOBA (xwOBA) and 132 wRC+ in 395 plate appearances this season.

Hunter Feduccia isn’t a world-beater by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s a rock-solid punt on DraftKings, where users must use a catcher. He has a 90 wRC+ in 239 plate appearances against right-handed pitching since 2024, and will play at a salary only $300 above the minimum.

Dylan Cease (SP – TOR): 7.5 Strikeouts — Higher

Dylan Cease has logged a 36.5% strikeout rate and 95 strikeouts in 63 innings at home this year. He’s cleared 7.5 strikeouts in eight out of 11 home starts this season. Cease also has a 34.6% strikeout rate in his previous four starts, totaling 28 innings.

Bryan Woo (SP – SEA): 17.5 Outs Recorded — Lower

Bryan Woo, as mentioned above, is a train wreck on the road. To that point, he’s recorded fewer than 17.5 outs in eight out of 12 road tilts.

Sean Burke (SP – CWS): 6.5 Strikeouts — Higher

Sean Burke has exceeded 6.5 strikeouts in five of his last seven starts. His strikeout prowess meshes well with his matchup against the Reds. Cincinnati ranks 30th in strikeout rate (25.5%) versus righties and 24th in strikeout rate (24.1%) on the road this season. The Reds also rank 29th in strikeout rate (26.1%) over the previous 30 days and 30th (30.2%) over the last 14 days.
