The Royals signed free agent 1B Carlos Santana to a two-year, $17.5 million contract on Tuesday. (Jon Heyman on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
The Indians declined Santana’s $17.5 million option at the end of October. He will join the Royals and look to rebound after struggling at the plate last season. Santana slashed .199/.349/.350 with eight homers, 30 RBI and 34 runs scored over 255 plate appearances for the Indians. The 34-year-old is expected to be the Royals’ everyday first baseman. Santana is an excellent bounce back candidate as he is one year removed from slugging 34 long balls in 2019.
