Jay Bruce announces retirement from baseball

After 14 seasons in the majors, Bruce decided to hang up his cleats on Sunday. “I’ve decided to make the very difficult decision to retire from baseball,” said Bruce. He slashed .244/.314/.467 with 319 homers and 951 RBI in 1,650 career games with the Reds/Mets/Indians/Mariners/Phillies and Yankees. “Every stop I made throughout these 14 seasons were special, and my family and I are appreciative of all the help and hospitality along the way. I’ve always loved baseball and will be a fan for life.”
