Jake Woodford takes loss in regular season finale on Sunday

by Lucas Spence | Cardinals Correspondent | Sun, Oct 3rd 11:09pm EDT

Jake Woodford pitched five innings and allowed six hits, three runs, and a walk while striking out four in a 3-2 loss to the Cubs on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

Woodford led 2-1 entering the fifth inning but was charged with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth that ultimately proved to be the difference in the game. The 24-year-old pitched mostly out of relief this season but did a solid job in September after joining the starting rotation. He finishes the season with a 3.99 ERA and 1.34 WHIP and will compete for a spot in the starting rotation next spring.
