Drew Pomeranz (forearm) to begin rehab assignment

Padres manager Bob Melvin isn't certain when or where Pomeranz's rehab assignment will begin. But the next time he pitches, it'll be in a game within the next few days. (MLB.com)

Pomeranz threw a live BP session in Arizona over the weekend. "He just wants to get back and pitch as quickly as he can," Melvin said. "So do you build him up for a long period of time with some of the injuries he's had? Or do you get his bullets here as soon as you can? I think we're still kind of discussing that. I know if it were up to him, he's felt like he's had enough of [the buildup] probably to where it's sooner than later. But we'll see."
