by Bruno Mulé | Thu, Nov 6th 2:45pm EST
Chas McCormick elected to become a free agent on Thursday after passing through waivers unclaimed. The Houston Astros had removed the outfielder from their 40-man roster on Tuesday. McCormick was eligible to elect free agency because he has more than three years of major-league service time. (Chandler Rome)
Fantasy Impact:
After slashing .259/.336/.449 during his first three seasons with the Astros, McCormick's production has declined over the last two years, in which he has hit .211/.273/.301. He may have to settle for a minor-league contract this winter.
