Cowles, 26, had a big year in the minors in 2024 but took a nosedive in 2025. The middle infielder hit .235 with nine homers, 18 stolen bases, a .671 OPS, and a 71 wRC+ across 128 games between the Cubs' and White Sox's organizations a season ago.
