Mike Trout homers, steals base on Opening Day

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Thu, Mar 26th 10:32pm EDT

Mike Trout broke a scoreless tie with a one-out solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to help the Angels to a 3-0 victory over the Astros on Opening Day. Trout also stole a base and walked three times on the day.

Fantasy Impact:

It was vintage Mike Trout as he was on base four times on Thursday, going 1-for-2 with the solo home run and three walks. It was Trout's fifth career home run on Opening Day and it came off Astros' reliever AJ Blubaugh in the top of the seventh. The bigger story, however, may have been his first-inning stolen base as he has totaled just 14 stolen bases since the 2019 season. Trout is in his 16th major league season, but won't turn 35 until August. If he can stay healthy, Trout is a candidate for a bounce back season.
