Jose Soriano tosses six scoreless innings in Opening Day win

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Thu, Mar 26th 10:14pm EDT

Jose Soriano was brilliant in his first career Opening Day start as he tossed six scoreless innings in the Angels' 3-0 victory over Houston on Thursday. He allowed two hits, walked four, and struck out seven.

Fantasy Impact:

Soriano threw 91 pitches in six innings as he locked into a pitcher's duel with Houston ace, Hunter Brown. He allowed just one hit through five innings and then was able to earn the victory when Mike Trout homered with one out in the seventh. The righthander will be tasked with anchoring the Angels' rotation this season after going 10-11 with a 4.26 ERA in 169 innings last season. Soriano is scheduled to make his next start in Chicago against the Cubs.
