Konnor Griffin laced an RBI double in his first major league at bat on Friday, helping the Pirates earn a 5-4 victory over Baltimore. The 19-year-old went 1-for-3 while batting seventh in the order in his big league debut.
Fantasy Impact:
Griffin needed five pitches to make an impact in the Pittsburgh lineup as he ripped an RBI double to center off of Orioles' starter, Kyle Bradish, in the bottom of the second. The top prospect was slashing .438/.571/.625 in five games at Triple-A Indianapolis before the call-up. He is the first teenage position player to appear in a major league game since Juan Soto in 2018 and is the first Pirate teenager to make his debut as a teenager since Aramis Ramirez in 1998. Griffin seems poised and ready to serve as the everyday shortstop in Pittsburgh for the foreseeable future.
