Jordan Romano tosses perfect ninth for third save Saturday

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Sun, Apr 5th 9:52am EDT

Jordan Romano pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save of the season as he preserved a 1-0 victory over the Mariners on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

Romano stepped into the closer's role for the injured Kirby Yates and he improved to 3-for-3 in save situations to begin the season. Despite the perfect inning, it didn't come without drama as Jo Adell robbed J.P. Crawford of a potential game-tying home run to lead off the ninth inning. Romano then got a popout and a strikeout to close out the Mariners. Romano had a disastrous season in Philadelphia last year, but has not allowed a run, or a hit, while posting a 7:2 K:BB ratio in 4.2 innings this season. Yates is getting closer to a return but Romano may hang on to the closer's role as long as he is pitching this well.
