Jimmy Herget suffers loss as emergency opener Sunday

Jimmy Herget was saddled with the loss on Sunday as he allowed one run in the bottom of the first inning in Colorado's 7-2 loss in San Diego.
Fantasy Impact:
Herget dropped to 0-1 on the year as he served as the Rockies' emergency opener on Sunday. Kyle Freeland (shoulder) was a late scratch due to left shoulder soreness, so Herget warmed up quickly and took on the Padres' lineup in the bottom of the first. The righthander hit Ramon Laureano then allowed a single to Fernando Tatis, Jr. before Jackson Merrill bunted both runners over. Manny Machado plated the lone run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. A walk and a fly out ended the 24-pitch inning. Herget, who also served as the opener on Thursday, has a 2.00 ERA in nine innings, allowing two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
