Chase Dollander gets win in brilliant bulk relief outing

by David Leisering | Rockies Correspondent | Fri, Apr 17th 7:35am EDT

Chase Dollander allowed one hit in 5.1 scoreless innings - striking out a career-high nine batters - to earn his second victory of the season. Colorado defeated Houston, 3-2, on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

Dollander didn't allow a hit in his first 4.1 innings before allowing a double to Carlos Correa in the bottom of the sixth. He wiggled out of the only trouble he faced that inning as Houston put runners on second and third with nobody out. But, Dollander got a groundout and then struck out the next two batters to escape the jam and end his day with the lead. Dollander struck out five consecutive batters from the last out in the second to the first out in the fourth and faced just one batter over the minimum until the sixth. After pitching to a 6.52 ERA in 21 starts as a rookie last season, Dollander has made five appearances as a reliever this season with a much-improved 3.32 ERA and a 23:6 K:BB ratio in 19 innings. While he's not on the fantasy radar yet, he's off to a great start and may have found his role as a bulk reliever.
