Isaac Mattson extends scoreless inning streak

by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Sun, Apr 19th 11:19pm EDT

Isaac Mattson pitched a perfect eighth inning on Sunday, including a strikeout, for his fifth hold of the season as the Pirates defeated the Rays, 6-3.

Fantasy Impact:

Mattson extended his consecutive scoreless inning streak to 13 straight as he has not allowed a run since giving up two in two-thirds of an inning on Opening Day against the Mets. The righthander is tied for the major league lead with 13 appearances and is tied for fifth in the National League with five holds. Mattson owns a sparkling 1.32 ERA in 13.2 innings, but has allowed 18 baserunners, including a so-so 10:6 K:BB ratio. He'll remain a big part of the bullpen, especially bridging the gap to get to closer, Dennis Santana.
