by David Leisering | Mets Correspondent | Fri, Apr 24th 1:58pm EDT
Carl Edwards Jr. had his contract selected from Triple-A Syracuse by the New York Mets on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Mets optioned Christian Scott. (Will Sammon on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Edwards Jr. will join the Mets for some length out of the bullpen. Christian Scott lasted just 1.1 innings on Thursday, so New York used both David Peterson and Tobias Myers for more than 40 pitches on Thursday. They are both unavailable on Friday. Exclusively a reliever in his major league career, Edwards Jr. has been used as a starter in the minors over the last couple of seasons. In Syracuse this year, Edwards Jr. has a 5.29 ERA with a 13:11 K:BB ratio in four starts (17 innings). The veteran righthander has just five big league appearances over the last two seasons and has an ERA of 3.56 over 300 career outings.
