Jake McCarthy belts tie-breaking grand slam in eighth

Jake McCarthy went 2-for-4 with a grand slam home run and an RBI double in the Rockies' 6-2 victory over the Mets on Thursday.

McCarthy drove in five of Colorado's six runs on Thursday, tying the game with an RBI double in the sixth before belting a tie-breaking grand slam in the eighth off of Craig Kimbrel. After starting the year with no homers in his first 26 games, McCarthy has now gone deep in back-to-back contests. Over his last 15 games, he is hitting .375 (15-for-40), raising his average from .138 to his current .275 clip. He's slashing .275/.346/.507 with two homers, 14 RBI, and six stolen bases in 81 plate appearances while seeing most of his at-bats against righthanded pitching.
