Bubba Chandler improves command, settles for no-decision Sunday

Bubba Chandler allowed two runs on five hits in five innings on Sunday, but settled for a no-decision, as the Pirates lost to the Giants, 7-6, in 12 innings.

The most important stat of the day for Chandler on Sunday was that he walked only one batter in his five innings and threw 53 of his 77 pitches for strikes. In his prior three starts before Sunday, Chandler had walked 13 batters in 14 innings and pitched to a 7.07 ERA in that span. Overall, Chandler is 1-4 with a 4.62 ERA and a 34:27 K:BB ratio in eight starts this season. He's scheduled to take on the Phillies, in Pittsburgh, on Saturday.
